Joint 2 Joint How come no one seems to like Emancipation as much as I do.
IMO, this is his greatest album. Haters travel in packs and they are offended or threatened by klhk, haters express intense hostility toward the subject of hate. Haters are annoyed and roll thier eyes when klhk is paid a compliment. ask yourself, are u a hater? | |

as you can tell from classics like "courtin' time" and "mr. happy", this is clearly the album he was born to make.

Plastic production.

Joint 2 Joint is awesome. That segue near the end of the song is classic too.
Most of Emancipation just has a plastic, cheaply produced R&B sound to it though, and some of the songs are embarassing and sound like they were quickly made just to fill up space. I mean, Da,Da,Da? Courtin' Time? Ugh. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I love the album and I just don't know how people can knock the production?! Ok, maybe its a bit too slick for you all (Prince often sounded dirty in the past, almost lo-fi in places) but it is pristine production and do you know just how hard that is to acheive? The music positively glistens. Seriously, the album needs to be heard on a proper, killer system - its simply magical. Joint2Joint is vyeing for best cut on the album, IMO. Sorry to be so base (speaking of which, the bass in this track is awesome ) but I get a hard-on every time I hear this track   [Edited 3/23/05 11:11am] ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Joint 2 Joint is easily my favorite song on Emancipation and one of my all time Prince faves. The songs just takes you on a journey. The funk is solid, it's got some humor. It just ROCKS me.

The album is underrated-- largely because it's a lot of material to digest and not everybody's willing to do it. It's not all great but that can be said of every album. The production doesn't take away from my experience of the music and in songs like Sex In the Summer it sounds great. My only beef with the album is those damned covers other than "One Of Us". I think of Courtin' Time like I do Wedding Feast. It's nothing serious and isn't intended to be anything other than what it is-- a goofy little song. |

This album is very much underrated, I can't remember any of the songs getting any radio time here in Dallas, Emancipation is simply beautiful and it's sad that it gets no recognotion!
