Is PRINCE capable of pulling OUT Anymore Major SURPRISES? I mean, really? Like, I don't know--Announcing that he regulary smokes Mary Jane or something. He's surprised everyone with radically different albums during the 80's, the whole name thing, promising not to use anymore "Swear words", and finally his newfound religion. I just can't see him doing much more now as far as surprising us. I think we, as fans, are pretty much accepting that he'll do things that aren't middle of the road.

A couple of nights ago, me and my other half were in bed asleep when Prince leapt out of our wardrobe, wearing nothing but a pink feather boa and proceeded to sing us a new song that I'd never heard before that was about the plight of camels in Paris.
From this, I'd say that Prince is definitely capable of coming up with many more surprises. On a more serious note... Would you have thought, back in 2001 that Prince would release an album consisting of 4 instrumentals, all 14mins in length that would be his sole output for that year? Would you have expected Prince to release a controversial video that addressed racism and the 9/11 issue and release it to the public? Would you have imagined, after all those 90's albums of over-produced attempts at commercial music, that we'd hear a jazz/gospel/darth vader influenced album like The Rainbow Children that he must have known would tear the Prince fandom apart? Love or loathe his output over the last five years, it's perhaps been the most surprising material of his career. Who knows what's next and let's all hope that his next album is another completely different direction from his last albums. Prince has always surprised us, whether it be nice surprises like (insert favourite surprise here), or horrible let-downs like (insert least favourite surprise here). I think Prince is and always has been capable of surprising us musically, whether it's been to our own personal taste or not. And I don't think that he's gonna change now.

and i think if prince stopped living in a bubble....and started hanging out with people who were not intimidated by him he could spark his creative juices...
a long long time ago we had a great discussion in the gd about vocation vs. avocation....maybe now that prince has once again found himself with a decent amount of cash flow he will stop looking at every venture in monotary terms and start looking at his music as art.... he could do it....now the question is, does he want to? cause in the end, its really his art and his perogative. I am still hoping Prince will win an Oscar FOR ACTING. That would be like pulling a rabbit out of his hat. The right project would have to present itself. For instance, a while back there was talk of him making a movie about blues guitarist Robert Johnson. (Anyone see the "Crossroads" movie from the 80's?) I think this type of movie project would be ideal for several reasons:
- It would display Prince as a phenominal guitarist. - Be a period piece that is in the style of "Color Purple," "Fried Green Tomatoes," and the recent Oprah-produced made-for-TV movie "Their Eyes Were Watching God." - Prince is ideal in stature (size) for the role... and, even at almost 50, he could still pull-off Johnson's appearance. - Prince can show audiences he can play more than just himself in front of the camera by actually having the opportunity to ACT. - The musical genre may not be popular (with the exceptions of "Moulan Rouge" and "Chicago") but a dramatic spin with musical elements cries out to be Oscar worthy. - Think of the acoustic soundtrack we would get from such a film... another category to steal come award season! - Someone else, such as Spileberg or Ms. Winfrey herself, should produce or direct the film. (Not Prince!) Surround him with a supporting cast of brilliant actors... tell the story in a unique way... and let Prince play the blues and convey the story to the audience. As for MAJOR surprises, Prince has had a terrific year. The Top tour, money-making strategies, numerous public appearances (making-up for all the years he was absent), and awards and honors galore! To make a movie and receive kudos for it -- some 20 years after "Purple Rain" -- would truly be a deserving surprise.

I cannot see Prince acting. But who knows? He has only ever played himself in movies. From what I have seen, I do not think he could pull off a big role in a movie.

He could release a mean ugly, funky, cussing, SATANIC album, more harsh than Black Album. and he could leave it rough, and make videos with an imposter...
wait, he could puppet a group like he did the time or vanity 6 and see if it hits top 40.... My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid
