In Denmark I've only seen it in 1 wrecka stowe and it was an special import, so the price was double.

that is the number sold in the US. Not world-wide.

it has sold around 300,000 copies worldwide, not bad considering how uncommercial it is and zero promotion.

The comparisons are off-base unless you're going to compare independent albums to independent albums. Comparing major label albums to independents is not a level playing field. Not even close. It's the road he's chosen.
