Long version of Feel U Up: does it exist? On of my favourite 'electrofunk' tracks of Prince is Feel U Up (a b-side from a Batman-track).... I really dig that dry, nonchalant funksound and the lyrics are quite nasty (I dont really wanna be your lover, i only want to fill you up) but, hey, its Prince I Also dig the synth parts and Candy's saxplaying near the end..
Does anyone know if there is an extended version of this track, and if its worth purchasing???

I think it's - (I dont really wanna be your lover, i only want to FEEL you up) - that is the name of the song after all. Yeah, I have a copy of the extended version - It's cool. Not sure where you'd find it now.

In the US, the "short stroke" version was the only one released. In some countries, a 3" CD single of "Partyman" featured the video mix of PM as well as the "Long Stroke" verion (essentially the full-lenght cut of the song). It makes more sense in the context of the lyrics (and its still quite lurid). Chalk it up to Prince once again not ennunciating properly. ---- [Edited 4/14/05 7:17am] Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. Ah yes, you're talking about an even earlier version, recorded during the 1999 album sessions. The version that wound up as the b-side to "Partyman" came from the "Camille" sessions. How can people mistake the genius Eric Leeds for Candy Dulfer (who wasn't even around Prince in 1986...) Does anyone know if there is an extended version of this track, and if its worth purchasing???
More than worth it, it's Camille for fuck's sake... Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O

How can people mistake the genius Eric Leeds for Candy Dulfer (who wasn't even around Prince in 1986...) Indeed. The confusion seems to stem from it being the b-side to "Partyman" (the video for which debuted Candy to the majority of P fans). Many newbies aren't aware that the track dates back to 1986. Does anyone know if there is an extended version of this track, and if its worth purchasing???
More than worth it, it's Camille for fuck's sake... The long version is MUCH better. Neversin. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

It's feel, dammit.
(For confirmation, listen to this part: "Feeeeel you up, suga-suga!") And it wouldn't be Prince's cool brand of weird if it was "Fill you up." It's not new or interesting to say "I don't really want to be your man, I just want to fuck you." I mean, for real. But to say "I only want to feel you up" kind of makes you go, "Huh? Like, just feel me up and run away? Whaa?" Classic. The Normal Whores Club

Neversin, i have the cd-single of this song and the liner notes say:
saxophone - Candy Dulfer So, it wanst Eric Leeds playing the sax on Feel u Up. Remember Candy appeared in the Partyman-video and played a lot of sax on Graffiti Bridge, I guess Feel U Up was one of the first things she did for Prince

Neversin,
Oops....i did read your post again, Feel U Up (the version i am talking about) wasnt officially released until 1989, it might be youre talking about an older, 1986 version

Candy only played sax on Partyman, she wasn't around in 1986... (And well the most obvious thing is the HUGE difference in Eric Leeds's playing style and Candy Dulfer's playing style, not to mentionm the fact that there's no alto sax (Candy Dulfer) in "Feel U Up" just Eric's baritone...) I had a bootleg of this song (this exact same version, to be precise) about two years before it saw an official release, and at that time Candy hadn't met Prince yet. Plus, as Neversin pointed out, you can clearly tell its Eric Leeds playing. It doesn't fit Candy's style at all, plus it isn't an alto sax. Eric has ALWAYS played a baritone. "1999" outake relevant passage directly from the vault, page 33: Late December 1981: Other songs taped in Prince's home studio in the latter part of 1981 included "Irresistible Bitch" and "Feel U Up" (recorded in sequence). Both were re-recorded from scratch: "Irresistible Bitch" became the B-side of "Let's Pretend We're Married" in 1983, while "Feel U Up" was released in 1989 as the B-side of "Partyman". ...now what's this shit you keep swearin up and down about "feel u up" and it being a 1999-era outtake?
