And the 1999 Survivor winner is.... With 41 votes.....
*****Little Red Corvette!***** Ranked 108 on Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Songs" list, RS themselves said... "One week in 1982, Prince had a twenty-four-track studio installed in his basement; by 6 p.m. the day after it was set up, he had recorded "Little Red Corvette." The song -- an almost perfect erotic fusion of rock and funk that builds slowly until Prince explodes into a guitar solo -- ended up being his first Top Ten hit. Fittingly, he wrote the overtly sexual lyrics in the back seat of a car but not a red Corvette: It was a bright-pink Ford Edsel belonging to Revolution keyboardist Lisa Coleman." -Rolling Stone "As the album reached the streets, Warner didn't feel the need for a second single until February 1983, when Little Red Corvette hit radio like a bullet. Prince wrote the clever song while nodding off in Lisa Coleman's pink Edsel following an exhausting all-night recording session. The lyrics came to him in pieces as he'd jot something to memory in between catnaps. Given the opening line-I guess I should have known by the way u park your car sideways that it wouldn't last-you almost want to put him to sleep again just to see what else he'd come up with. Reaching no. 6 on the pop charts, Little Red Corvette was easily his biggest hit to date-in fact, his first significant run on pop radio since I Wanna Be Your Lover. -Alan Leeds It came oh so close, but D.M.S.R. comes in second place overall. No shame in that though! This means D.M.S.R. is officially the last 1999 song eliminated with 21 votes. Final Ranking of 1999 Songs #1-Little Red Corvette #2-D.M.S.R. #3-Lady Cab Driver #4-1999 #5-Automatic #6-Something In The Water (Does Not Compute) #7-Let's Pretend We're Married #8-Delirious #9-All The Critics Love U In New York #10-International Lover #11-Free That does it for 1999 Survivor. The most popular song off 1999 to most casual fans is now officiallly the most popular amongst the voters at The Org. Thanks to everyone for voting! The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

This was a painful endevor. Almost wrong for this sacred album to be put into popularity contest. It was funny at times though.

Wasn't there at least one person that kept voting off "Little Red Corvette" since the very beginning? I bet they are a little disappointed.

I'm glad this song won. It's the biggest hit on the album, and for me that's simply because it is the best one !

One thing I find interesting about the survivor threads is that the big hits often do so well (case in point here).
It's usually against my own opinion, but it shows a lot of fans love the hits the most - or they vote for them to win at least - either way it shows Prince's commercial cannon has a lot of respect amongst fans here. » MetroArea [Edited 3/23/05 16:34pm] Don't worry, I can't get pregnant - my ovaries are diseased......

That certain vain individual can't be too pleased once he sees this. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

That was a lot of fun. I hope we can do this with another album real soon. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I don't think I'll be doing another just based on what I think would be cool, but if you guys request a specific album survivor game, I wouldn't mind doing it at all.
If someone else wants to just take a chance and start another up, that'd be more than fine. That one definitely had no hits.
Not true. Last December was a #1 hit...well, in Japan. [Edited 3/23/05 19:40pm] The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Vain, I still can't believe you voted for LRC over Delirious all those rounds. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I couldn't vote off anything else until my least favorite was gone. I'm known for sticking to my guns. "Lady Cab Driver" is my favorite from the album. Andy is a four letter word.

For me, Little Red Corvette is one of the Prince songs that I have heard way too much, and can't really bare to hear it anymore (unless it is the extended version). Sorry, I didn't vote, but in my opinion, number 1 would have been a close tie between Lady Cab Driver and DMSR.

Keep those Survivor threads coming.
My suggestion for next album: Graffiti Bridge. Should be fun voting off the obvious ones in the beginning (looking forward to some nasty comments), but then once they're gone, it'll be really interesting to see which songs make the top three... there are some gems on that album after all. "How embarrasing to be human!"

In the end the list goes pretty much in the order that I like the songs, though I would probably switch Let's Pretend We're Married and Lady Cab Driver. Check this song out at:
