Guitar or bass

What does he play better?

My opinion would be bass, this guy is prob the best bass player i've seen in my life time so far. Ok his an amazing Guitar player and is sooooo underrated, prob 1 of the greatest, but i feel he is a much better bass player!

SammiJ

my superficial side would say this:
he looks sexier playing the bass than the guitar

but based on my experience and what i've seen him play live -- i would think more the guitar...i love his solos, they're simply amazing, and i like how experimental he gets with certain songs and effects

im not saying no one else does that cuz im sure every guitarist does, but if i had 2 pick between the 2 and what he plays best, i would say the guitar. nod

His guitar playing gets much more attention amongst his fans and there's no denying that he can reach out and touch you with a guitar solo in a way that is unique to him. I really can't speak to his technical prowess since I don't play guitar. I'm impressed to some extent by anyone who can. I just know that I love what I hear and what I feel when he "goes off" on a good solo.

I also don't play the bass, so again I can't comment on his technical ability there. But I get a bigger kick out of watching him play bass. Probably because he doesn't do it in concert as often, so it's extra special when he does.

And, SammiJ, yes -- he looks sexy playing the bass, but then again, he'd look sexy playing a kazoo. Man just cain't help hisself but look sexy! mushy
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

Hands down -- the bass.

To me, the guitar is the most irritating instrument on the planet. (Bizarre for a fan of Prince, huh?) Whenever I would go to a Prince concert, and he picked up that guitar, I would groan. But when he started playing the bass guitar, I was in heaven! His bass playing actually made me appreciate his guitar playing.

I wish he'd play it more often, but I think he's afraid we'll all start chanting, "play that mf'en bass"!

1) blasphemy.

2) the bass itself is a guitar too, y'know this right? to say guitars are irritating would mean that the bass is included in your statement.

3) i hope you're not a hohnerist to boot.

I know, I know -- I should be taken behind the woodshed and spanked. biggrin

I know the bass is a guitar -- I'm talking about the tones it emits. I like the bottom -- the low notes -- the base notes. Electric guitar notes make me grind me teeth. But like I said, that was *before* the man started playing the bass. Since then I have learned to, well, not love the guitar, but appreciate his guitar playing.
