Deuteronomy 31:21 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV) Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society 21 And when many disasters and difficulties come upon them, this song will testify against them, because it will not be forgotten by their descendants. I know what they are disposed to do, even before I bring them into the land I promised them on oath." We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

aside from Deuteronomy, there are a number of Old Testament books with a 21st verse in Chapter 31, including Genesis, Numbers, 2 Chronicles, Job, Proverbs, Psalms and Jeremiah.

The opening lyrics to 3121 concern guests slipping on a kimono at Prince's new LA house to 'chill'.
Now, unless Prince whips out the New World Translation out at the dinner table in the second verse, then I think we can take comfort in the knowledge that this theory is wrong.

What is with all this navel gazing? The message seems simple: Watch yourselves and repent. Reading in context helps a lot here. Try starting at verse 16 all the way through to 22. That might clear things up...
Shorty said: whoa! is that really from the bible? I've never heard of "deuteronomy".... can you elaborate? Aw, Shorty, don't feel bad. Here's a mini Sunday school lesson that will probably get this kicked into the religion forum for sure. The Bible is split into 2 books, known in the Judeo-Christian world as the Old and New Testaments. The first 5 books of the OT are known in Jewish circles as the Pentateuch (or the Torah). These books are Genesis, Exodus, Levitics, Numbers and our friend, Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy records the last words Moses spoke to the Israelites before they entered the promise land; he urges them to obey the Lord faithfully and reject all kinds of idols and idolotry. Or, as my Quest Study Bible (NIV) says, "The book deals with hardship, testing and doubt, but also with promise, hope and trust. It reminds us that faith is not automatic or mechanical It shows us that faith becomes personal and active when it springs from a living relationship with a loving God. The message can be summed up: Devote yourself wholeheartedly to God." oops -- that should've been Leviticus... [Edited 3/22/05 15:56pm]
