Enough about MJ... what is the Prince/Janet connection??? On August 31, 1990, Prince performed at the Tokyo Dome and included a portion of the Janet Jackson hit "What Have You Done For Me Lately?" in his set. During this song, he posed the question, "Who wrote this song?" This has left me wondering if Prince was trying to allude to some type of involvement he may have had in the songs writing or if he was merely paying respect to Terry and Jimmy in some subtle manner? Any thoughts?  | |

I think it was just a tongue in cheek reference to Terry/Jimmy writing the track - and their work (and specifically on Control) being influenced by The Time's sound.

Man, how many times is this question gonna be asked?!?!?! Isn't he allowed to playfully interject a cover into his performance without everyone questioning who really wrote it? No disrespect to Averett, I'm just venting from seeing a whole bunch of people here on the Org always asking about one line from an almost 15 year old concert. Janet has been trying to get her hands on prince's sweet ass since 1978!
Recruiting Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis was just part of her nasty plan to get closer to Prince and the MPLS sound. Little did she know J.J and T.L were on Prince's shit list at the time and her connection with the two of them automaticly put her on the list as well and that's where she stayed!

I read on vh1.com that, at a meeting with Michael Jackson about possibly doing a duet of "Bad," that Prince was eyeing Janet and Michael got mad and cancelled the duet. Is this true? | |

Janet was at the meeting? Anyways it's only half true. MJ didn't kick Prince from the table, Prince just didn't want to do the duet and offered a song instead towards MJ's new album but MJ declined. | |

C'mon you know the real question should be what happened between Prince and LaToya...They did go out on at least one date. If I recall Prince had dinner with Joseph in tow...and she did record "Private Joy"...."You belong to Toya!!!"
