No one has replied to this in over a day, so I am ready to declare this poll closed. Thanks to all who participated! For each vote cast that was a tie between two albums I gave half a point to each album.
The final order goes something like this... 1. Sign o' the Times (42 mentions) 2. Lovesexy (18) 3. 1999 (10 and a half) 4. Purple Rain (6) 5. The Raijnbow Children (5 and a half) 6. Parade (5) Let me say that this is NOT a definitive answer, because the manner in which it was determined involved eliminating certain albums along the way. However, it does clearly reveal that "Sign o' the Times" stands head and shoulders above the other albums to be this forum's favorite Prince album.

It's probably my favorite album by anybody. So daring, every song is different, every style of music is covered and most importantly to me, it's mostly just Prince in his studio with his drum machines and cool keyboard and guitar sounds. After this album he started to really overproduce his music, and that's my problem with the Black Album and Lovesexy and most albums after. They were very overproduced. My favorite prince songs have his trademark sound which is very minimal, almost demo quality, and it really lets his talent show thru. ______________________________________________

SOTT....more artistic than Purple Rain, more commercial than TRC, more accessible than Lovesexy, more mature than 1999, and more solid than Parade...

I'm torn btween the very innovative "1999" and the very worldly "Sign 'O' The Times".
The "meter" is at a standstill... |
