do yourself a favour..

man, if prince would release this one ('81-'82 version) then i think it would be a guarenteed hit. jeez, what a song.. it's weird that some of the other outtakes didn't end up on albums. some are truly good songs..
don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine

I love that song, haven't heard the version your talking about. It'd be great if he played that live, prolly never happen though. I'd love to hear him play The Dance Electric, that song augmented with horns would kick serious Arse!

A hit? HAH! Maybe back in '82, it would've been.

Prince didn't write "Do Yourself a Favor" so it is very, very doubtful that it will ever be released. It was written by pepe willie. I don't think that they are on very good terms so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this to be released.

If you hear the original (94 east) Jesse transformed it on his Shockadelica album. I think Prince was in envy of Jesse's minor success and recording skills and tried to gate crash. Firstly, Prince tried to offer Jesse a title track on an already working title, but jesse declined. Prince put it out anyway to piss him off.

One think can't be denied. "Black In America" ruled"
