for those who dislike the rainbow children everytime i read some people on the org wrote negative comments
on the rainbow children album i just think"they didn't really bother to hear what that album is about. rainbow children is a spiritual jorney more matture and laidback then lovesexy. it's a story of a man who was always in a search for god. i think that album is really all the way from prince's heart. it's his most creative album. he pushed bounderies on that album. music never sounded so fresh and organic as it was on the rainbow children. he also succeded to record song that is in the same vain as purple rain, but much more complex(last december). the rainbow children is a story of prince-autobiographic manifesto. some people were not ready to hear that story. give it another true. it realy easy :prince at his best.

yeah,,im a huge fan of the album.i got in2 it hard when i first got it in december 2003,and listen to it on a weekly basis at the very least.
the religious side of the album doesnt dissuade me from enjoying it and the music is complex, intricate and quite a mellow album.i love the song muse to the pharaoh and the everlasting now..who honestly says these songs are shite is hearing and mentally impaired and deserves a beat down ..if i ever hear any1 dissing the album around me ,i make sure they leave with a new opinion (or at least a broken jaw ) hehe on a serious note, the songs performed live are even better (as shown in the live in vegas dvd) and i have to say the album is rated higher for me ,than say emancipation,as the album as a whole is strong and no apparent filler.. being a drummer, musically,it allows me to appreciate music on an even more intimate level than some..TRC is SONICALLY PERFECT...the compositions and arrangements show a mature side to prince and display his genius at arranging and composing melodies ,,with the right band ,of course..john blackwell and rhonda s obviously feed off each others vibes ,,theyre totally phat n tight (like big booty cheeks ) "isnt she great? ooh ye i wanna bust dat body "

Except for The Work and Last December (Larry Graham), it's all Prince on bass.

I like it..... | |

I like some of it, mostly in the second half of the album. Those more mellow, jazzy songs are the kind I can't get into with Prince. I just don't like that kind of music. The JW dogma can tend to grate on my nerves after a bit too. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I think you might be taking some liberties in trying to explain where prince is coming from in this album…unless you know him or something.
This album is really fantastic….there is some great music in there. The Work---some old time funk. 1+1+1 IS 3---This sounds like the ‘ol Prince we love (or most of us love) The Rainbow Children---Smooth…Jazzy….Wonderful ....and so much more I’m not religious…but I love the messages and delivery. The voice is a problem. Not for me…but it’s hard for my non-prince friends to get past. It stops them from listening. But I don’t have a better suggestion.

Ummm...sorry were you saying something. I was getting sleepy there for a second. Of course, most of the time when I think of The Rainbow Children, I get kind of sleepy. It's a unsatisfying, unfulfilling, preachy kind of sleep. Now go ahead, continue with your point... All good things they say never last...

Am I the only one that's turned on by the Vader voice?

I do find the voice annoying, but the musicianship on it is fantastic. The jazz flavoured stuff isn't everyone's cuppa tea, but I dig it. All the other trappings aside, its a strong album musically. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

agreed musicology was absolute drivel ! (heard it all before) i'm not saying all that. musicology just seemed to be 'by the numbers' while the rainbow children was more adventurous and intriguing.

Likewise. I think it's a classic. It's the most adventurous musically P's been in a long time. It feels "deep" because it is deep. Hate to compare the obvious, but the last time I think P was this deep was Lovesexy. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.
