Under The Cherry Moon

I watched Under The Cherry Moon the other week, and I loved it, despite what the critics may say. I even thought that Prince seemed more confidant acting in this than in purple rain and the music was good too (naturally).
Anyway, wat do y'all think?
oh my lord, where did i hear that one before?

When I first saw it I loved it too! I thought it was kinda funny. As far as P being more confident I guess I don't see it. I just see the kid and Christopher being totally diffrent personalities. P went right back to the same personality in Grafftit Bridge but thats just my opinion.

I really liked UTCM. I thought Kristin Scott-Thomas was perfect for the role and I think she is extremley beatutiful too. I read that she and P hooked up brifely during the filming and I definatly belive it because she is gorgous. nod

Went to see this movie every night it was on at Leicester Square in London. Got to the point where they were lettin' me and my girlfriend in free!!

Love the movie, so many good one liners.

You didn't get waylaid you got L.....aid

ah shit honey I ain't into all that

You did it to Mary's Mum

Tell him it's Chinese

Shit - could recite the whole movie!!

Cabbage head!!!

Love it!!

Maybe someone can help me with something?

The scene when Mary arrives at his apartment and say's she wants to run away and P has these silk pyjama things on. When I see it in my head they are orange - has there ever been a colour pic of this? Why do I see Orange?
In the distance a light shines and I know it is mine. Someday I will touch it because it calls me. It says cross the line, cross the line. I know everything is not always what it seems, so I pinch myself daily just in case it's a dream

I only got to see it a couple of times when it was out. It's a great movie for Prince fans, not for the bandwagon types. You finally get to see Prince do his best Morris Day.

Got it on DVD this year and was dissappointed they didn't have the MTV opening party. That live set was awesome.

I guess I'll be 'odd man out' because I think that was THE worst movie he's done. The acting was horrible, imo.

Good movie but I've always wondered what it would've been like if Prince let some one else direct it?

I thought it was rubbish. I watched it again recently for the second time and thought it was even more rubbish than once thought...

I enjoyed PR in the day, but watched that recently again too and think it is also rubbish...

The word 'rubbish' cannot express my true feelings towards GB however, that was quite simply dire...

I think it's a very entertaining movie, I haven't watched it as many times as PR, but I'm getting close. I listen to Parade a lot more than PR also.

I liked the movie, but I guess only bcuz I'm a Prince fam. But I still prefer Purple Rain a thousand times!

As for "Sign O' The Times" I don't consider it as a 'movie', but a kick-ass filmed concert.

And although I dig the message and spirituality on "Graffiti Bridge" I have 2 say that it was a major disapointment. Maybe it would be more apreciated (less frustrating) if it wasn't announced as being a sequel to "Purple Rain".

Back to UTCM - I loved the poster artwork, the 'timeless' feel of it, but I missed what Prince is best on: the musical numbers... A bit of "Girls and Boys" lipsynch just isn't enough!

Regards,

Teo

I love UTCM too. I was happy to buy it when the dvd came out. Nowhere near as bad as its made out to be. It plays like a feature length Obsession commercial. It succeeds at being a fun movie. God forbid!

cool The movie is bad. But ya know i can still actually watch it everytime it comes on. I find it very amusing that Prince tried to be humorous & serious at the same time.

I agree with you. I think that just because Prince didn't play a likeable character and dared to be extravagent, that people dogged him for it. It's not fair! mad mad mad mad mad
