Does ANYONE know what happened to this cat?

I was also,,
Probably influenced my music listening more than anyone other than my mom. First time I heard Prince, Rick James, Kraftwork, Art of Noise, and Cybertron on his show. . I'm still very much involved in the Detroit Underground Techno Scene. He's still doing various shows and Festivals but I don't think he d.j.'s on the radio anymore. He made appearances at the last two Detroit Music Festivals.

Grew up listening to Mojo. Always had the M. Jackson vs. Prince vs. Rich James battles going on ing the 80's. It was fantastic to listen to the shows.
I still have one of the 1990 hour long shows on tape that he did when he was premiering the Thieves in The Temple for G.B. Pretty cool stuff. One of my buddies used to work with Mojo in the 90's on 96.3FM and he answered the phone when Prince called in to talk to Mojo one time and thought it was a prank until Mojo told him it was really him. Prince used to call into his show evertime he performed in concert.
My fondest memories is hearing , Knee Deep, Controvery, Get It Up, Numbers, Square Biz, Clear and Ghetto Life, all in one sequence. Radio will never be that good again.

He got moved around from station to station, but was always let go because he wouldn't stick to their crappy playlist...(Which is what I liked about him!) I would like to know where he is now too!....Must be a lot of Detroits on the Org.

Mojo was one of the reasons I became a huge Prince fan. Mojo played everything Prince. He would pretty much play his albums in full, along with extended versions, b-sides, etc. I miss those days so much. I doubt if radio today would even allow anyone to have full control over what they wanted to play, like Mojo did. Mojo was the only one playing Horny Toad, Irrestible B!tch, God, Blue Limosine(A6), Another Lonely Christmas, Gotta Stop Messin' About, Automatic and extended versions of Little Red Corvette and Let's Work. Damn, those were the days.

Mojo was a real dj. Played what he wanted and all requests.
Not the auto-play top 40 hit list radios stations are programed to play today. Go ahead and call in and see if they'll play Automatic or Sign o the Times today, or something from the Time ( who's that, they'll say?) "

Sorry, it took me so long to see this post, I was over at HQ venting!
Where the heck were you the other night, when I was up in here having Mojo flashbacks? As you can see in my signature, Mojo was and still is my favorite DJ! He turned me out when I was just babe of 8. Most of my pre and adolescent misbehaving stemmed from the fact that I would get caught, still up waaay past my bedtime trying to listen to Mojo! Mojo is the one who turned me on to Prince. I do hope Prince realized how much Mojo helped his career and did something to show his gratitude besides giving a shout out. I had the honor of meeting Mojo face to face in '99. I didn't even realize it was him until I heard him speak, then I got all giddy, you'd think Prince himself had just walk in or something. He was real cool though, and I really enjoyed our conversation about the days of the Midnight Funk Association. Radio just hasn't been the same. I heard he still has www.electrifyingmojo.com registered so maybe he'll do something for us online again. If not, as I said in another post, Mojo, three words...Sirius Satellite Radio!! I've already got mine, and I'm ready when you are!

So many fond memories of Mojo...He even came to work at my small-town radio for a couple of years. I'm just south of Detroit. He must have really needed to work, because my town is just as segregated and red-neck as you can get.
It was my last two years of high school, 1989 and 1990. All anybody around here listened to was Mojo on the radio. If you went to parties, they weren't playing records or tapes, it was Mojo. I used to have so many tapes of him. I don't know what happened to them. I loved the mix he would play of Lady Cab Driver and 777-9311. Those two songs fused beautifully. I remember when he played the entire Black Album one night (when it was still a bootleg)! When my best friend turned 17, I called him up to dedicate a song to her, and told him to surprise me. He played 17 Days! Perfect. She was 17 and that was our current number one jam. I won a contest he was having once, and supossedly won a "Midnight Funk Association" t shirt, but I never got it.

Mojo was the reason that in the early days of Prince's career, Detroit was his biggest radio market. But it goes a lot deeper than his love and support of Prince's music. Mojo was the LAST free-thinking DJ in the Detroit market. When he was in his heyday on WGPR, he was also the only "urban" dj that regularly spun artists such as the B-52's (who also gave Mojo a lot of credit for their early career, so much that they named one of their album "Whammy Kiss" after one of Mojo's trademark sayings), The Rolling Stones, Bowie, Billy Squier, etc.
After leaving the Detroit area for awhile, it seemed that whenever a new radio station was starting up and they needed ratings, they got Mojo. He jump started WJLB into the powerhouse (piece of crap) that it is today. And what usually happened was after Mojo brought HUGE ratings to the station, they would want to confine him to a format, and that's just not what he does. At his last radio job in Detroit, he got fired for playing classical music, when a young listener had asked whether any black people composed classical music. Mojo is a legend and an icon, and it's amazing that more people don't know about him. His is the story that movies should be written about. http://www.facebook.com/p...111?ref=ts
y'all gone keep messin' around wit me and turn me back to the old me......

I'm currently a DJ at HFCC (Henry Ford Comm. College) and The Electricfying Mojo ( along with other legendary Dj's from the D) is one of the many influences for me getting into radio. He was one of the reasons I got into collecting and finding out more about ol' school music. And yes he broke just about everybody into Prince in the D. Ohter than prince, do y'all remember
when he use to do "35-35-35" and of course, "Star Wars." Man, trying to call him on any given night during Star Wars was an adventure for me period.

OMG!!! "StarWars"!! "WhammyKiss"!! Ohhhh, the memories!!! The love!!! I sooooo miss Mojo!
I own a multimedia production studio in Berkley, MotorBabie's let's put our heads together and do something to show Mojo how much we still care! A website, a documentary, whatever, I'm in!! Post ideas, orgnote me, I'm dead serious! I want to do something special for the man that introduced me to Prince and started me on the funkiest journey of my life!! He deserves some love, let's give it to him!!
