Gotta agree - the title track is one of the hottest things on the LP - and that's hot because the entire thing is on FI-YAH! lol

Easily the weakest track on the album. I'm sorry this has cheese smeared all over it. I guess the best thing I can about it is that the production is good.

I think this song is a masterpiece, because it is so cheesy. It's a child-like, wild joy that he experienced (or wanted to express), hence the cheese on Glam Slam and all the wild, blurred, messy sounds on other songs like Eye No, Lovesexy, Dance On. I think he totally captured what he wanted to say.

Glam SLam the weakest track!!!!!????? Ooooookkkkkay.

I agree with Lovesexy. It's so boring. (my opinion, my opinion.) But for me, there is something so damn exoctic about Glam Slam - though it would be nice to know what he was talking about.(must be slang for something)

Anyway, yes-yes I wish u heaven and when 2 r n love are classics but the wedding cake is Positivity. That song just...just...

The thing with LoveSexy is...it's a trip...u really shouldn't judge it on a track 4 track basis...

I always....light a few candles..turn down the lights.. put on the headphones and listen 2 ...and baby it's a trip....

that's how I have always viewed it.. it's 1 track 4 a reason..

just my thoughts.....my opinion.....

Eye No-
Strange to say the least but you hear how his production skills had inproved big time. the pocket is so hot and it can be sloppy at times but a great introduction to a very DIFFERENT Prince album. I like this version better than the one that was to be on Crystal ball.

Agree. Although I don't really consider "The Ball" to be the same song

Alphabet St.-
What can i say about this song...It's hot as hell!! I just wish he would turn that bass up. The brotha is popping strings like there is no 2morrow. So FUNKY

nod

Glam Slam-
Easily the weakest track on the album. I'm sorry this has cheese smeared all over it. I guess the best thing I can about it is that the production is good.

I change my mind on this song frequently. Sometimes I love it, some times not so much. Its a weird little number, but P is good at that sort of thing.

Anna Stesia-
NOT ONE NEGATIVE THING TO SAY ABOUT THIS TRACK-CLASSIC

Amen. My favorite Prince song ever! Incredible melody, passionate playing and the best lyrics of the man's career.

Dance On-
One of my favorite tracks from the album. Shelia is fucking those drums up (listen for the cymbals). If you don't like this song then you just don't know funk and how to experince TRUE FUNK.

Sheila's drumming alone makes this song
Love§exy-
Second weakest track on the album only behind Glam Slam. Way too much shit going on in this song. And can some please tell me what he is talking about?

Disagree. I've always thought P should have done a radio edit and released this as a single back in the day. The song is slammin'! You can FEEL Prince's energetic new love for life and God. Plus, that whole weird bit at the end? Too funky!

When 2 R in love-
We all know this is the shit.

Great ballad. Love it!

Eye Wish U Heaven.-
Another one of my favorites. The guitar is simple beautiful. Prince has to be the best rythm guitarist out there hands down. The harmonies are so crisp and the song structure is just perfect.

Agree

Positivity-
MY FAVORITE TRACK OFF THE ALBUM. Why does so many people hate this song, This is what it is all about for me. the guitar, the beat, the vocals-OMG!! I fucking love this song. I just don't see how people don't like this. A great way to end a very DIFFERENT Prince album.

I love this song as well. Its an odd duck, but it has a fantastic feel to it. Oh, and the lyrics?? Incredible! In fact, hearing this song once pretty much pulled me out of a suicidal funk.

Out.

No offense (sense everyone seems to be so SUPERSENSITIVE lately), but the lyrics are quite straightforward and easily understood.

I could go for a line by line explanation, but that would take awhile.

As for the term, or the "slang," he merely cut short the words Glamourous and Slamming. In other songs he would use the words "body hecka slamming." Banging body, body for banging? Body for sex... glamourous sex.

Much as I like Lovesexy, I do think it's somewhat overrated. Personally, I'd
liked to have seen Prince taken a little more time on it and change a few things...

Positivity - That horrible drum sound ruins the song for me! If it hadn't been
for that I'd probably really like this song. The instrumentation on the Mavis
Staples version is WAY better. Now if Prince had released his version with the
more tribal drum sound from Mavis' version it would've been perfect. in fact the
whole album couldv'e benefitted from reworking some of the drum tracks with a
more organic feel.

Also, I think he should've taken the whole 'continous sequence' thing further
on the album and created more of a non-stop totally segued album like Marvin
Gaye's What's Going On. I also think the segue from Eye No into Alphabet St
could've been done better.

I agree. I like drum machines okay, but the "snare" in this song is annoying and it never stops or changes.

I don't think Lovesexy is Prince's best album. There's a lot of things that could've been done better. Of course it's great, but its special quality comes not so much from the four or so classics on it as from how inspired it feels.

"Alphabet St.-

This is so true. It's some of the funkiest bass I've ever heard, and it's barely audible

Lovesexy
This was the one for me.At the same time we had The Black Album and I couldn't get enough of either one. An incredibly creative and spiritual time for Prince.Someone in this thread said that Lovesexy is the weakest song on the album, but for yourself give it some more time. Man,that song is just so spiritual and uplifting. He's talking about how great life can be and it becomes so playful and funny.Lush vocal harmonies and those tough horns mixed up with the string sounds. Put it on the headphones and go for a walk! Now! For your own good.
