When I first saw Prince on "American Bandstand", I didn't know what color he was but I definately thought he was gay.

Same for me, but the next day I went to the recka stow to check out his album. I liked what I saw and been in love ever since!

my mom used to play the first 3 songs of the 1999 album for me & my sister to dance to when were really little and we loved it. we didn't know it was prince, but we called it snake music because of the way the cover art looked (don't ask me why).

august 2003, i randomly watched my parent's old purple rain tape, and from there on out i've only loved his music more and more. smile

My first impression was that when I knew he wasn't like other musicians (i.e. his music, his look, the way he dressed, etc.) Then the more I listened to his music the more I wanted to kno about him. Then he became attractive to me in Purple Rain and I've been hooked ever since.

I remember as a little kid seeing Prince for the first time in the 1999 video and thinking, "HE HAS REALLY BIG HAIR". When that song would come on the radio I would dance, it got to the point that my dad was forced to take me down to the record shop and buy me some Prince music. Needless to say once my dad started buying me his records I got hooked on the music instantly!

I thought he was a weirdo. I was 4 and I asked my Mom who that guy in the high heeled boots on TV was and she told me it was Prince. At the same time that I thought he was weird, I saw something cool about him but it didn't hit me till the Let Go Crazy video came out the next year. Seeing Prince with the motorcycle and having Appolonia on his arm, I knew he was cool from then on.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I was 6 and saw the 1999 video on MTV. I was mesmerized by how he slid down the pole and thought his shiny purple trench was really cool. The two girls grinding together at the keyboards made me feel "funny" inside.

I think you mean "Let's Pretend We're Married". That's the one that has all the cursing at the end. Can't have the kids dancing to that.

Hmm, I saw the kiss video for the first time in like 1994 and I was 4 years old. Wilst playing in the floor I would say over and over to my mom "It's My Uncle!, My Uncle's on TV Mommy!!" Teh, what a silly little twit I was,my mom was amused and kinda likes Prince (she wont admit it), she told me Prince was not my uncle (really he's not), and made me watch Seseme Street for the rest of the day, she to;d me it would make me smarter. Diamonds & Pearls came on the radio when I was on my way to my first day of kindergarten and ive been a fan ever since.

I have vague memories of being terrified of him as a young child (Although I remember really liking Delirious), same with David Bowie. I guess something about the way they looked just rubbed me the wrong way.

It's funny 'cause now, they're far and away my favorite artists.

I felt the same way. That's why I found it hard to believe that Prince liked children and children liked him back, cuz he'd seemed scary, intimidating looking and I can just see a child asking him "Why you got on makeup and high heels, are you a fag?" and him gettin' plenty pissed. You know how kids can piss you off sometimes being too honest and speaking before they think.

I was 12 or 13 and my cousin & I got the Controvery album. Obviously, our mom's did not know what kind of stuff was on it.
I was in love ever since I first heard him. I admit, I did not always know what I was singing about but I liked his style & his music.
My first thought was FUNKY!!!!!
I continued to be a fan of some degree ever since. Sometimes to the extreme & sometimes just to lift my mood. Prince music has ALWAYS had the ability to lift my spirits and make me DANCE.
No other person in my life has ever come close to motivating me as much as him & his music has.
I think it always will, I am 33 now, do not see a time where I do not get complete pleasure & JOY from hearing his voice & his sound.
His music is timeless, what more can I say!

peace
