Who went to the Purple Rain shows? I wasn't into Prince in 1984, although I had the album. Purple Rain the album, movie, and tours are probrably Prince's most known works.
While I've seen the videos, heard the album, and seen the movie I still haven't seen the tour. I understand some dates were stadium shows. I wanted to go sometime afterwards but my aunt kept telling me no to not go cause he wears a bikini and I was young. Working up a purple sweat.

Yup! Cincinnati, OH January 1985.
My girlfriend and I called ourselves getting in line early for tickets. Got up at 3:00 am and went down to Riverfront Stadium to find the line went all the way around the outside of the building. This was November/December 1984 and it was cold cold cold out there. When the ticket window opened, I almost got smashed. All that to get nosebleed seats, but I guess I was lucky cause I think it sold out pretty fast. We were so numb with cold and tired that on the way home my friend ran a red light. All I saw was the truck with the big Mack emblem getting closer and closer. We made it through the intersection, but I made her pull over at the nearest diner and bought her a cup of coffee! The excitement leading up to the concert was insane. Everyone was getting their outfits together, trying to look as Prince-like as possible. Hair over one eye. Heeled suede ankle boots. Camisoles. Black lace gloves without fingers. The day of the concert, one of my friends who had decided he didn't want to go took a taxi down to the arena anyway. Walked up to the ticket booth and asked for a single ticket. Got a floor seat in the middle of the 9th row. I didn't speak to him for a couple weeks after that, especially once he told me he caught a pair of sunglases Prince threw from the stage and handed them over to "some girl" sitting near him. Sheila E. was the opening act. I remember her doing this thing where she pulled a guy from the audience, tied him to a chair and proceeded to tease the hell outta him. She rocked! Next came Prince and the Revolution. The lights went down, the screaming was so loud it made your ears pop, and as smoke filled the stage, "Dearly beloved...." The screaming intensified, the lights came up showing Prince ascending from underneath stage center..... The next 90 - 120 minutes was a blur of unbelievable sound, lights, props, rhythmn and screams. But the biggest impression I drew was of Prince. He seemed to be everywhere at once. Center stage. Stage left. Stage right. On top of the speaker stacks. Jumping. Dancing. Playing. Directing the band. Singing. Posing. Teasing. I was exhausted by the end, just from watching the crazy level of energy he put out. It was an amazing experience and sealed my fate as a fan for the next 20 years and counting. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

I was 11 years old and it was my first REAL concert.....I tried to get tix but there was no way, sold out! But my uncle knew someone at the venue and he scored me 2 tickets.....I bought all kinds of souvenirs, but someone actually stole one of my T-Shirts.....from an 11 year old kid!!!!! If you remember, it was the shirt with the 2 doves on the front and it said Prince.....thats always pissed me off "Paisley Park is in your Heart"

I would have liked to have been there but I was only 4
years old at the time. Haters travel in packs and they are offended or threatened by klhk, haters express intense hostility toward the subject of hate. Haters are annoyed and roll thier eyes when klhk is paid a compliment. ask yourself, are u a hater?

Bogart's!! That show (or rather the fact that I missed it) is the one true regret I have in my life! I had just transferred to UC and it was like the first week or so of school. I was just beginning my true fascination with Prince, so I opted not to go. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

4 of the 7 shows at The Forum, Los Angeles(Inglewood), CA, and a show at the Long Beach Arena later in the tour. The Forum was lit up purple for a week!!!! Great shows....sat right in front of the Van Halen members for one of the shows. These were the times when all the P fans came dressed in camisoles and trench coats. I was lucky enough to see him on the Purple Rain tour. It was December 2 1984 in his future home away from home...Toronto. It was at Maple Leaf Gardens. The first of 2 sold out shows. It was the first concert i ever attended. What an amazing night. When he started the show by saying "Dearly Beloved", the screams were deafening. The building shook. Never heard anything like that. I am not one to let loose in public but i was going nuts. By the time the show was over i was drenched in sweat and my hearing didn't return to normal for several days. One of the highlights of my life.
I still have the ticket stub and that great glossy program. And it's in perfect condition. And fast forward 20 years and he does another 2 sold out shows in Toronto and this time i attended both.

I was going to see it at the Superdome in New Orleans. I live in Mississippi and New Orleans is about a three hour drive. It never snows down here, dut dammitt, it snowed several inches that whole weekend and then the damn snow melted Sunday afternoon so we could go back to school Monday morning. Andy is a four letter word.

My first concert ever!!! It was the second night he opened in Detroit, Nov. 5 1985. Pretty cool, but we also had nosebleed seats. Just the whole atmosphere was fun and exciting. That changed my life that night. I was a P-fan for life. Had a chance to go to another show with a girl that was trying to date me but turned her down since I was seeing someone else.....5 years later I married that girl. Coincidence or fate. Memories.....
waited in line all night to get tickets at the now defunct LEOPOLD RECORDS in San Jose, California. That night some guy freaked out on LSD. In the morning an employee said that if you got a Prince flyer you were guarnateed tickets if not you had to leave immediately. Somebody rushed him and took most of the flyers. I didn't get tix. My best friend and I went to another location and saw a friend in line. He got us tix. Woooosh!! The concert was on a Sunday at 4pm at the San Francisco Cow Palace. History was made. My best friend has my ticket stub. He wont give it back to me. One day..... MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! San Francisco, Cow Palace. I was 14 and stayed up for three days straight to win tickets off of a radio station. I won the last pair of the contest. I bought a purple dress and white lace gloves. My older sister took me, I still think my hearing hasn't been right ever since. I was sheer pandomonium. I still have my tour book, ticket and the TV Guide lithograph I won from the radio station. It was the TV Guide cover with Prince, Bruce Springsteen and MJ.
