Sheila E.: Live in Romance 1600 with special guests Prince and the Revolution

do you think this will ever become an official DVD in the US?

Shouldn't think so - however a great unofficial version has just made it to DVD on the Global Funkschool label.

I was lucky enough to be at the show, I even recieved one of her drumsticks that were being thrown out, her name is engraved and spelled backwards. It was an awesome show.

I'm from Oakland so I would always see her or her father, prince would sometimes show up at her dad's club.

I dug this old tape out a few months ago. What really struck me is how weird Prince acts in this performance. Not his normal weird, but a scary kind of weird. If somebody told me he was on something that night, I wouldn't contest it.

I rented that concert on VHS sooooo many times. I miss it!

I like the performance of "Toy Box".

He was actually in quite a foul mood during that time, carrying a bee in the bonnet over several ex-collaborators whom he felt hard-done by.

Morris Day springs to mind.

i taped it off mtv back in the day, then bought it when it was released.

Yeah i used to be confused by P's attitude when he gets up there and says something like "I ain't got no business up here, she just wrecked the stage!"

It's like is he giving her a compliment or being rude?

Also, to the guy was there... what other songs were performed besided KISS that didn't make the video (including just by Sheila)?

Yes I do remember. For the longest I thought it meant "Stop and Go" for some weird reason. But later I realized it was "Escargo".

BTW, re your CD wishlist..... I got most of those by burning my vinyl to CD. It's very easy to do if you have turntable with line out (RCA L&R) jack and a computer with a cd burner. And it's perfectly legal.

Jill Jones and Mazarati are the only ones I don't actually have AT ALL (on cassette or vinyl). The rests are favorites that I'd really like to find out how to get factory pressings of, cuz I'm snobby like that. hehe
