Which songs are now "off-limits" for Prince?

Seeing Cindy C in the Glam Slam Room this weekend surprised me, even with sound effects covering the curse words. Just the essence of the song seems against his current beliefs. While he is not the one picking songs for the rooms on NPGMC (at least, I seriously doubt it), I'm sure they have to follow guidelines. So which songs are now off-limits for him, and which aren't? Cream and Shhh were both surprises on the Musicology tour...

Well the song Cream is a double entendre for rising to the top.

I thought the same thing about "Cindy C"
it seemed an odd choice to say the least

given all the songs to chose from, I'm
sure it was no 'accident'.

then why don't he perform any of the 36 songs from Emancipation?

he performed "soul sanctuary" at the celebration, where he also
did an acoustic version of "one kiss at a time".

it's probably the album with the least played live songs in his
entire catalogue.

I wasn't surprised to hear "Cream" performed...especially since he went out of his way to make it clear that he "wrote this while looking in the mirror." He made a point of giving more hints as to what the song is really about.

I would guess that the following songs would be considered off limits for him now, because there's just no way to alter the songs or have the audience sing along without it getting "offensive," or because the overall meaning/story of the song is counter to what he's all about now:

Head
Sexy MF
Let's Pretend We're Married
Jack U Off
P Control
Come
Sister

I like his little lyrical change for I Feel For You...

"It's mainly a physical thing"

to

"It's mainly a spiritual thing"

Very sneaky, and monogamous, I must say Prince. lol

I'd really rather he not play them at all.

Don't swear now, if he's going to follow the mistaken belief that "fuck" is a naughty word, but there's no excuse for screwing with something he's already created. Even if he doesn't like it now, it's part of where he was at and who he was at the time the song was written.

I find it interesting that Prince refuses to play songs like Do Me Baby and Insatiable(after only a few Musicology shows) now because he feels they are too suggestive but always played Let's Work and U Got the Look.I'm not complaining, just a little surprised. Oh well...that's Prince.

I don't think he plays Darling Nikki anymore either. The last time I heard him sing this in concert was 1998, and even then, I was close enough to the stage to notice that the DID NOT sing the words, "masturbating with a magazine." He let the audience do that.

Obviously that was around the beginning of his convictions. He still performed the "nasty" songs, but didn't sing certain parts, or started changing the words.

I thought the Musicology tour was supposed to be the last time he played ANY of his old hits?

What were the words that he changed in Gett Off?? Someone posted it last summer, it was funny.
"Did u love somebody
But got no love in return?
Did u understand the real meaning of love?
That it just is and never yearns"

Bambi is an anti-lesbianism song. And even when preforming live, Prince would skipped the third verse all together.

Didn't he perform Bambi on the Ellen show?

I doubt we'd get to see him perform P Control again, but I would be so happy if.

It's a pretty rough statement that Bambi would be an "anti-lesbianism" song (it's an ism these days as well?!?).

Well, I was sure that Little Red Corvette would be off-limits but apparently (and thankfully) not. I guess if the lyrics are open to interpretation, then it's ok? So LRC must be about a car, right? wink
