Prince - Basement Hi Jaxxed Oh my gosh!
Does anyone have any thoughts on this thread. The new ditty by Basement Jaxx is without doubt a nice tune to listen tooo, but is this a step too far in being influenced by an artist? I would like to see the look on P's face when he hears it. I'm not sure whether he would be flattered or a little irritated at the over obvious links. There are even sounds that are so close to Shockadelica and various bits of the love sexy LP I find it hard to believe that they didn't need permission to put this out. That said I can't get it out of my head - it's great

Prince probably is happy that people hare influenced by the Minneapolis SOund cuz Oh My Gosh has hints of it here and there especially the lyrical arrangements. Other than that it doesnt SOUND Princey, more 80's pop with a modern feel to it.
I can hear Jill Jones singin this instead Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Basement Jaxx have always been upfront about their liking of Prince's music. Don't worry, I can't get pregnant - my ovaries are diseased......

Absolutely. They've even done a cover of "All the Critics love you in NY" I heard a recent interview with them and one of them mentioned how they were so into Prince. So there... "I have a date with Lisa. Isn't that wonderful?"
