It is quite simply the most amazing song Prince can perform at a piano next 2 the beautiful Ones, The ladder, Sexy dancer and Man in Ur life..

Probably the most underrated Prince song ever..however..did u spot the mistake in sequence..

Prince says 3 times .."make love, Sweet Love, My love"

Then on the 4th time he says "make love, my love, sweet Love" and U can hear the tension in his voice when he realises he's fucked up....suprised he used that take but then again the singing and playing was flawless..

The live 1st avenue version is by far my favorite live recorded song evah!! That piano solo makes me weep....wow. It is THIS song that made me become an avid boot collector once I realized there was this quality of music yet to be released by prince....

Amazing track. I'm very sad that a passable version will likely never see the light of day.

Anyway, about this song: It is absolutely supernatural.
I'll never forget the impact it had on me the first time I heard it. I rushed to work and started a thread on it that day.

Is there a studio version of this song, or are you just talking about the First Ave version? (I thought that was the only one.)

Everytime I watch the First Ave. 83 show and that song comes up I always wonder, WHY didn't this song make the Purple Rain soundtrack?. It's easily one of his best ballads, I love this song. [snip; you can't tell people where to get bootleggage here!--Dansa]

I have both versions of this song and the live version kicks major ass....I have shared this track with a few Prince fans and they were blown away. I wish I could see the performance this came from. The passion in his voice is unbelievable.

What's this 1st Ave business? Isn't that where his club was in Purple Rain(sorry if that's wrong, but it's been years since I saw that)? And where have you guys heard this song?
