Prince in Europe.

While Prince has been neglected by Mtv and US radio he stil has a contingent of loyal fans in America.

Prince can actually do theater and arena shows in the US. Much like many acts of the 80's in EUrope he's still a big phenomenon. oung kids are familiar with his name,he gets talked about and mentioned by the media. THe mass public hasn't forgotten him. He even does stadium shows in Europe.

What I want to know want is Prinonomy like in Europe. I bet he sells stadiums out in minutes and has 100s of fans at his hotel. Has he ever tried to do an afterparty in Europe?

Well, he hasn't done a stadium show in the UK since 1993 on the diamonds an pearls tour. I don't think he's played a stadium anywhere in Europe for a number of years.Since then, he's only done arenas, although they do sell out quickly. He's also done plenty of aftershows here too. He definately played aftershows on the Gold and ONA tours in London. Others have already mentioned some of the most famous European aftershows.

last show in Dublin, Ireland was for a 10000 seater arena and sold out in minutes.. On the One Nite Alone tour....he did an aftershow at the POD club in Dublin after one of the two sold out Gold Experience shows in 1995. Most memorable bit was dueting with Bono on 'The Cross'. Bono was drunk and forgot the words...then introduced him as 'Prince' when it was the time of the name-change fiasco....the look of contempt on Prince's face was priceless. I remember seeing Prince walking in through the side entrannce with shades and a cane...even though it was approx 2 am ! I was going to approach him but his burly minders looked as though they would kill me ...Mayte looked stunning...

His last show in Belgium was sold out very quick. The arena seated 18,000 people and without any advertisement and tickets going on sale only a few weeks before the concert date and with NO hit album in years I thought it would never sell out. Then it was sold out in less then 2 days.

Bono doing a duet with Prince? OMG!

But the Musicology tour in Houston was 2 18,000 seat arena shows which both soldout.

The One Night ALone Tour was in Theaters in the US. THe US Hit'N Run Tour was in theaters and smaller venues.

He hasn't done stadiums in the US ever as far as I can remember. I hear he did some stadium shows in the United States on the Purple Rain Tour.

The reason I say can he do aftershows is he does aftershows at clubs and maybe theaters here. As big as Pincemania is in Europe getting a spot at his afterparties is nearly imppoissible right?

He TRYS to keep his aftershow parties in the US secret but the clubs end up filling anyway.

No. It's quite possible to get to aftershows in Europe.

Unless you go with you elderly mum and she starts complaining that she's tired and needs to go home. Missed out on the Hippodrome show in '98 because of that. Last time she ever got invited to use a spare ticket!

You should have told her that Val Doonican was inked in to play support at the aftershow.

Hippodrome was great, although I lost my car in china town and nearly fell asleep driving up the A1 at 6.30 in the morning - absolutely buggered! He just wouldn't stop playing. Mind you, my mate did catch a drum stick so that was a bonus.

I wish Prince would come to Europe.

Probably the worst concert I've seen him do. I'd say the venue had something to do with it, but he was very off-par and the sound was terrible. Got into the afterparty at The Forum after though, now THAT was a great show!

a new album with a couple of real big hits on it will see the european tour.. if not world tour kick off.
it seemed with musicology that it was an album to support a tour rather than a tour to support the album.. when he gets an album that he feels could be really successful i'm sure (hoping lol) he'll support it further a-field than the US.
even a scottish tour would be fine - as long as i get to see him at the secc, i'll be happy

Too right, The highlight was speaking to Dwain before the show, but like you said the sound was rubbish - not nearly loud enough and the pyrotechnics were very weak esp the american flag. I didn't make the aftershow that night at the FORUM, but it sounds like I missed out big time sad Plus I queued my ass off that day

Was that not '93, it started with my name is Prince?

Thought next time he was here was for the Gold Tour in '95, when he played arenas and then with the New Power Soul stuff at Wembley arena and Brixton Accademy (top gig!)in '98.

Don't tell me I missed a whole tour!
