What exactly is a "Work for hire"?

Just wondering after looking at all the copyrights

perhaps if you're lookin as to how it applies in p's case...from the link above:

If you sign a work for hire contract to play with a band, you will not be entitled to any royalties or even credit for your work other than what the band agrees to pay you. It will be as if you never existed and the band will be deemed the creator of your music.


in short, you're merely a hired hand.

I'm just saying that he finally must've looked back at his contract and realized that he wasn't the owner of his music but WB actually owned it and he started all the names and stuff...That guy just sticks Prince's name on it to sell...it could be considered a work for hire though

this is why andre, morris, lisa, wendy, levi, tony b. dont really have legs to stand on when complaining about prince profiting from their music..
