Why is this out of print?

WB pulled the plug. Prince took to much ownership with it. I believe it had alot to do with The Most Beautiful Girl In THe World single/remix/re-release....

or something

You should still be able to find it in the used cd bins. I saw one a few weeks ago in my local store.

I got the cd a couple of years ago for like 7 bucks. i was looking on amazon.com and the cheapest used was $40. but it sounds like it is very rare to actually see it sold for so much?

Try and find "new power soul" second hand! I saw it and bought it once for £3. Never seen it since.....I never would of bought it new and thank god I didn't.

I just bought it and it was quite a challenge(maybe partly because I only buy stuff new). It's my fav CD now and it was up for Grammy's, so I don't see any reason for it to be OOP.

WB should re-release this without the segues instead of the Hits/B-sides again...

This is one of the great Prince albums, IMO. Up there with Lovesexy for me. Also the last great album released on WB. Hard to believe it's out of print - must be a good reason.

Prince negotiated to get his masters back on this album(remember, it took well over a year for it to see light of day). It IS a WB album (as well as an NPG release), but they can't put it back into print without P signing off on it.

Actually, it went (fittingly) Gold. It took a while to do so, and wasn't an instant hit. Much of its success is owed to "P Control" catching on in the clubs.
