Hated it at first, and I still think the rap in the middle is crappy...

But there's something about this one... I think it's the beat that does it for me...

on musicology = no.

Well, it's not that exciting like many of those classic Prince dance trax, but I do like it! The beat is great!

The break towards the end of the song, I guess you can call it the bridge, when it breaks out into a 'latin funk' is what truely saves the song.

Loved it live.

life o the party is the third best song on the album, behind reflection and musicology. the rest are pretty average.

Sounds better live...and yes P does say "the other guy, other guy" meaning michael.

To those who say it's great live but recorded it's not, is that really a fair assessment? I mean, live it's really just JB's "Hot Pants", so it's more of a cover when done live, if anything, than him performing it live. So, if you said it's not funky on record, then your answer's really, "NO!!!"

I listened to it a few times but it is the only song I skip over on that album. I do like the part when he says, " My voice is gettin higher and I ain't never had my nose done!" He was having fun with thqat song, otherwise how in the world could he come up with "Goody 4 U"?

I see it as an underproduced, throwaway.. not something to put on a "comeback" album... real weak effort.. he probably wrote that in less than an hour
