I usually find that it takes about five years to objectively rate Prince's songs/albums, but I think the song "U're Gonna See Me" is going to go down as one his best ballads ever. I'm not usually much into his ballads, but this song really blows me away.

The 3:00 mark is where I start getting those "Venus de Milo"-type goosebumps. 4:10-4:30... oh my!

Are others feeling this song?

Yeah, it's a great song. It has such a personal vibe to it that I was actually very surprised that Prince released it as a download. It's the kind of song that if it wasn't released by Prince, but yet somehow turned up on a bootleg somewhere, fans like us would be dying to have it!

hmmm.. it wouldnt me in MY top 5... its a good song, of course does it even have the potential of the song One Nite Alone? the piano technique in that song is far more smooth and has a greater catch, even tho its a very dark song.. (yes dark)

Ure Gonna C Me is very... shall we say experimental piano track, it almost sounds like he made it as he went along.. which is cool, but yes, it would be.. possibly in my top ten...

we gotta hear the WHOLE one nite alone cd first.. eye'm sure it has some amazing ballads on it... ya know

And yes I agree with you (opinion may be subject to change at later date) I think if there's a few more jems like this there maybe a few more converts hanging out at the org this time next year.

MAN, I've been talking about this song since the d/l! OF COURSE it's a top 5 ballad! This song is incredible - his vocals kill me, gorgeous melody, just pure, simple & beautiful. I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

I was hoping you would see this thread Calhoun, since we talked about how great this song is on another thread. It's a shame that Prince didn't sing it for the ONA tour, but maybe if we all send some nice emails to his music club, he will sing it at the celebration in June -- lol! Yeah, I know that's a stretch, but a girl can dream, can't she? If he does sing it at the celebration Calhoun, I'll be sure to let you know, since you said on a different thread that you will be unable to attend this year.

calhoun girl I know what you mean. If I would have hear that song at the ona show. I would have passed right out. I told my cousin if he played that I am just going to die. I love that song so much I cry everytime I hear it.

As you've said, it's difficult to be objective with new music. But having said that, "U're Gonna See Me" is really sounding like a great one.

With Prince's amazing voice I've always thought his body of work was far too short on acoustic material. And now it looks like he's written an entire album that's mostly just his voice and his piano.

All the "One Nite Alone" stuff sounds very nice, I only hope the rest of the stuff on that album is up to the quality of the tracks released so far.

These tracks sound the closest to his Parade-era material, but for the most part they are new and fresh and don't sound that much like anything he's done before. It’s kind of like 1 part Parade-Era Prince + 1 part Joni Mitchell + 2 parts new mature Prince with Jazz leanings = One Nite Alone.

Perhaps when this album is released he’ll start adding some of these tracks to his current concert set-list.

Don't know where it ranks among his ballads off hand, but it must be up there.

Yeah, you need to check this song out, purpleleaf. It's a great song, possibly the best one Prince has ever written.

I quickly pulled the lyrics off of another site and didn't have the time to double check them. Hopefully, they're accurate. It's a great song. One of my favorites for sure.
