Hi, everyone.

I just watched the Live at the Aladdin DVD, and I thought it was great.

You know, when I don't see a Prince video or concert in a long time, I have to remind myself as to why I love the man. This DVD doesn't fail to give me that reason. It rocks and funks in all the right places. The band is tighter than a virgin, the fans are starstruck, the music is wicked.....I mean, what more could you ask for in a Prince video?


And he was rocking a badass suit!!!!!

And he made his guitar create all these crazy sounds!!!!!

Another one of the many reasons why Prince was, is, and always will be THE MAN!!!

Here we go again with the bitching about the cinematography. I mean, really, is that what you watch a Prince video for? Is the cinematogrpahy (which really wasn't that bad) the most important thing you want to see in a Prince video? I'm pretty sure you got some bootlegs stashed too, and the quality of that is even worse. I've seen some of them, but I never complain about it. I just wanna see that man in action. I could give a fuck about the video quality. Sure, it may affect the video and how you video to some degree, but it's all about THE MUSIC!!!!!

Musically I prefer it to the ONA Live box set. I ripped the audio from the DVD and it fits nicely onto an 80min CDR. All the songs beat the box set version IMO.

Still I can't say that I wasn't dissapointed with the picture quality. I like the hand held camera style - it gives it a real old school feel, but the actual picture quality is weak. I was excited when I saw the download previews from the NPGMC, but I was dissapointed when I got the DVD and the quality wasn't any better than the downloads!

Music: 9/10
Picture: 5/10

Yeah! It was definitely funky!

I especially like the "1+1+1=3" funky jam too. I even got my guitar and started to funk with them.

Great DVD. Better than nothing.

BTW, any word on a Musicology Tour DVD? The tour has been over for quite some time.

My main complaint with the DVD would be how it begins. The entrance of the fans and the soundcheck footage is cool but then go right into Pop Life??? It doesn't really have a beginning at all.

I would not pay to much attention to someone who is worried about the picture quality and not the music. Tells you what is important to that indivdual.

Well, hell, then just listen to a CD if you don't care about the picture quality. I was at this show, which was awesome! They DESTROYED the flow with the edits and crap. The MTV quick-cut style of editing sucks when watching Prince. You want to watch him play, not a snip here and there. Some of that editing hurts my eyes and brain to watch.

I absolutely loved the ONA tour....thought it was one of his very best tours,so this watered-down DVD didn't come close to capturing the essence of the actual shows themselves.

The DVD is good, I think the picture quality is ok. My only problem is how the concert is edited! I would love to see a full show!

Of course it would be great to get the whole show, but as it stands I love this DVD. It's my favourite live show of his since Lovesexy.
