I guess you guys have never seen my name before, well, cause i kind of found this site by chance whilst checking around about Prince, which as a matter of fact is one of my annual endeavours and glad to see that he is doing rather well for himself again these days.
As a Brit, i originally grew fond of Prince after listening to Girls&Boys way back then in 1986 and by 1989 i was an avid collector/dealer of Prince's rare records which included the likes of both 12' UK covers of 'Gotta stop messin' about' and 'Let's Work' etc.. getting a name for myself from other collectors around the world i was also an obsessed fan of the man in writing and after seeing him play in Paris I saw him 10 out of the 17 nights that he played at Wembley Arena on what was it? the Nude tour? pls forgive if i get any of the ins and outs wrong.

There may even be one or two of you out there from those days that still remember me.

As a mad fan at the time, i also had an abundance of Prince pen-pals from a UK fan club cum mag at the time. As i was one of the regular contributors I also got friendly with 'Cat' herself. It was during this time that I came close to a girl from Michigan, whom slightly older than myself had an interest in Prince, but she didnt seem to be much of a fan and instead wrote more about her love for God than anything else. Just through our correspondance we became close anyway.

After a few months or so, she wrote and claimed in upmost confidentiality that, after being in close contact with Prince for a couple of months, it was because of her that Prince decided not to release The Black Album.
She claimed that after her first few letters to Prince she started to get a few anonymous replies and went on to inform Prince that his lyrics etc... were against the word of God etc... to cut a long story short, her pseudonym at that time was 'Annastesia' and thus she claimed the song of that name was written for her and that all the reasoning of Lovesexy, the nude cover and Prince's sudden call for God in the album, was because it was her, herself, through her correspondance with Prince in late 1987 that made him change his ways. The saga of the Black Album is thus history.

In 1990, i did meet this girl through my Amtrak travels of the US and can say she was of a serious religious nature, not a tremendous fan of Prince but seemed to carry knowledge of the guy that i had never heard of before. One time i did ask 'Cat' herself about the true reasoning behind the unreleased Black Album of 87 and Lovesexy of 88 and she confessed that she didn't know the slightest, only that a kind of revolution had arisen within the guy in early 88.

Living in south-east asia for the past 11 years or so i have, as you could imagine, have become rather ignorant of Prince's goings-on but i still keep up from time to time.

I have never retold this story anywhere before besides housequake.com a few days ago and would like to know whether any of the members have heard such a story like this before.

My words are genuine but i can not verify any truth.

Yes, we have heard similar stories. What exactly led to the cancellation of the Black Album only Prince knows but it surely had to do with Anna Stesia, Ingrid Chavez, God, Spooky Electric and ecstasy.

This earnest young chap's story may be true. Even Prince has a postman. But, at the end of the space/time continuim, who fucking cares?

The albums exist. They are real, well, in this box anyway. A story can never be real. Perspective not truth. Don't burn off precious neurons pondering the mixture - it's the medicine which matters. You lose 20,000 a day after you're 25, y'know.

But seriously, I have to wonder if the girl was speaking some truth about her letters to Prince, and was her name Annastesia (or however SHE may have spelled it) before the song came out? Because I find it real interesting that the song is about Prince's "rebirth" and the name Anastacia means rebirth -- so it would be an additional coincidence that a person of the same name would've inspired this whole thing. I won't doubt that she did what she said she did -- but I have to doubt how much of a role she actually played in inspiring the Lovesexy era.

Thanks for the 'snap', well, at least the folks over there at housequake have something between there ears and can comment constructively. What i have seen here is a bunch a kids been in to Prince for a few years and know the ins and outs of everything there is.

Very glad i dont live over where you guys are, with nothing to do but leave pretty useless posts whenever i can.

Any comment would be superfluous (but i guess you guys wouldnt understand such vocab1)
