Prince&Sinead Sinead O'connor is or was one of Prince's biggest fans.
In the early 90's when she became famous her first single was a remake of Prince's old Nothing Compares 2U. Prince was doing either Graffiti Bridge or Diamonds and Pearls. Since then Sinead has become a nun. She almost had to leave the music industry after she tore up a picture of the pope on Saturday Night Live. Prince has changed his name,gotten married twice, changed it back,formed another band,refrained from useing contracts and became the only major artist to release music exclusive to MP3. Don't know if she is now but she was a huge fan back then. It all changed after and alledged incedent she had with Prince. Don't know if Prince is into Sinead either. Nothing Compares 2 U wasn't her first single.....she just covered it. She admired Prince for having written her biggest hit ever, she must have felt bitter that he didn't write it for her... | |

Sinead was a huge Prince fan back in the day.In her late-80s interviews,she repeatedly listed Prince as one of her favorites.I think their friendship went downhill after the alleged "incident".Sinead stopped singing "Nothing Compares 2 U" at her shows. | |

Sinead visited Prince's home in late 1990.He invited her,presumably to thank her for turning one of his songs ("Nothing Compares 2 U") into a worldwide smash...lol...but according to Sinead,he physically threatened her and cussed her out,advising her that she really should "stop swearing so much and put on a dress".He then sent his limo driver away,leaving her with no way to get home at 5:00 in the morning."He continually said that he was gonna beat the shit out of me",O'Connor claims."His problem is that I did a song of his ("Nothing Compares 2 U") without him being involved.He's jealous.And he did say to me that he wishes that I had never done his song.I think that,frankly,that song saved his fucking ass.He was in serious financial trouble until that song happened". Prince dismisses O'Connor's accusations."That never happened",he said."I have no idea what she's talking about". | |

and she retired a little while back, but i read a story recently sayin' that she's coming out of retirement (quelle surprise) and has new music coming out. and for those who think she started out with 'nothing compares 2 U', i STRONGLY recommend you pick up a copy of her previous album, 'the lion and the cobra', which is one seriously good album.  | |

Troy is an amazing cut. as much as i like 'i do not want what i haven't got' now, i remember being disappointed when it first came out, because to me it didn't seem to have a fraction of the power that 'lion and the cobra' had. while i've warmed to her second album, and there's stuff from subsequent sinead albums i like, i don't think anything she can ever do will touch her first album. it's just so amazingly good. | |

P probably couldn't handle her Strength; P likes weak bitches. The Lion and The Cobra is amazing and has more raw energy than the follow up. Plus it has an ethereal quality without seeming contrived... (see Hounds of Love) | |
