Were Housquake or Batdance failed attempts at creating a dance craze

Do you think P intended to create a dance craze with these or any other songs?

Neither one could compete with the almighty Oak Tree...

I don't think either one was really designed for creation of a dance sensation. Actually, I could see people dancing to Housequake in clubs (I'm sure they did) but Batdance...nah, that was just for the money. I don't think he was trying to get people to go to the clubs and dress like their favorite Batman character.
All good things they say never last...

What you said. They were both songs with a dance name that didn't actually have a dance to go along with it. lol Lilgish - you are running through those avatars!

This went over about as well as the ill-fated "mani’s feet" thread. I guess I’ll start my own housequake.

"batdance" really didn't have a craze behind it, it was just a song...and i wonder if anybody even did (or attempted to do) the little dance with "housequake" at the clubs n'stuff when it came out...hell, you know there's gotta be at least a handful of people out there who've done it during a prince party.

lol

No dance to Housequake? You couldn't be further from the truth. Now listen carefully cause I'm gonna show you what to do. Now put your foot down on the two and jump up on the one now you're having fun. Maybe the idea is if everyone jump up and down the room will shake.

but no dance to it
housequake is like the 1st real "house" song from a major artist, but again no dance to it

NO!
NO!
NO!
Housequake is not in any way, shape or form associated with "house" music..especially back in the golden era of house 1985-1993...never say that out of your mouth again mad

No the dance craze song was Gett Off. I seen a many a women and men (myself included) raising a leg while they jerked out. It still goes on today if you go to the right clubs.

In regards to Housequake and Batdance. I always thought they were just jams.
