Remember this article from Wendy Melvoin>can we xpect something in 2005 with Prince&the Girls

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: APRIL 23, 2004 .

The
Weird,
Wonderful,
Return of
Prince.

Page:32. Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman

The Revolution's guitarist and keyboardist are now Tv and film composers (Crossing Jordan, Dangerous Minds). Their 1986 exit from the group was acrimonious, but they've made up with Prince and say they'll record a CD with him soon. "I've heard he's Bibletoting now, but he's the same person he's always been with me,"says Melvoin."Adorable, kind, and gorgeous as ever. We're like ex-lovers. We love each other but also have issues.

can someone please name the years we haven't had something from prince??? i mean something new...off the top of my head, i think, uh, none? 1993 we had goldnigga, 97...? what came there? thats the only year off the top of my head, and i'd guess about exodus or something

why do people, EVERY YEAR, wonder if prince will release something???? even the mods on the npgmc said last year that he always releases something during a year.

its obvious we'll get something, just what, well noone knows thats true, but i swear, this place turns into a posting ground for idiots on the prince "downtime", but here i am making yet another post, i better stop eh!

"xpect" is a rather strong word. I'd say he probably DID/WILL do something w/the girls, but we can only HOPE to ever hear it, not xpect...

oh yeah, lol, even then in 1982 (and 84) didn't he have a prince album, a time album and a vanity/apollonia album...and a sheila album in 84. suppose its a fair enough reason to not release much in 83, on top of a film! smile

I never heard she worked on that song.
Do you remember where this info came from?

I just figured it was her. It's pretty obvious don't you think?
More people talked about it when the song was released.

I don't know what made me think that. First up, fcuz, the way
it's produced. There are just things happening in it that he's
not been doing for a long time.

Just little shifts in melody and breaks here and there. Slight
different instrumentation floating in and out of the song as
if they were ideas for another song, but instead ended up in
this one, for a mere 5 or 6 seconds.

Then there's the lyrical topic and the summary of differences
and opposites.

Call me crazy, but that's Wendy on the female backing vox and
who's saying the "straight/gay" line.

I don't know. This song just reeks of Prince and Wendy&Lisa
as of 2004/2005.

What people forget is that when he'll work with them again it
won't sound like 84-86 again. They've also moved on and sound
different now.

It would help though if Prince put some information with those
download songs for a change, as to who plays on them and who
does the backingvox etc.

Than again, the song was available as the b-side to the single
for Cinamon Girl over here in Holland. So that was his own
official release on Sony and it didn't mention ANY CREDITS for
this song.

Once again that's pretty strange. Usually he does have some
info on his official record releases.

It's as if he wants to keep the hype of working with W&L for
another album release, yet couldn't hold back this song either
because he obviously considered it cool enough to release.

Ok, I'm done rambling now smile

This thread's speculating about whether Prince will release something new with Wendy & Lisa - not if he'll just release something new.

Actually, with the word 'xpect' in the title, the thread originator is not strictly 'speculating'... (just picking nits...)

without any actual proof to be shown to the masses, it's speculation.
