Questions about Prince and his Bands

Can someone explain about Prince and his bands. I know he was wit the Revolution and then NPG and now the Rainbow Children.

Can someone list all the bands he was with and what albums he did wit them?

Thanks

The band is STILL the NPG. Not "The Rainbow Children."

Well, basically, he 1st started of in a local band, and then a band called 'champagne', then when he got his album deal, he was know as Prince, then the revolution and finally the NPG, but the membership of the NPG, has differed during the years, many have come and gone.

I hope dat helped.

Let me see if I can get this straight....

In junior high/high school, he was a member of Champagne -- basically a cover band around Minneapolis.

In exchange for assistance in getting his demos put together to shop for a record deal, he did some session work with 94 East, a band spearheaded by Pepe Willie.

For You through Controversy were all "produced, arranged, composed and performed" by Prince with a sprinkling of credits to various musicians for laying down instrumental or vocal tracks. He formed a band for performance purposes, but they were just "the band" without any particular group identity assigned.

1999 was the first album that mentioned The Revolution -- in very small type embedded in the cover art.

Purple Rain through Parade were credited to Prince and the Revolution.

Batman was credited to Prince.

Sign o' the Times through Lovesexy were Prince.

Graffiti Bridge introduced The New Power Generation (NPG) and they've been the backup band ever since.

Bring on the corrections! smile
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.
