New 2005 Prince quote regarding Joni Mitchell. "[This] is one of my favorite songs 2 sing because the melody is so heartbreaking. The lyrics read as tho the writer is extremely enamored with the subject and yet the melody sounds as if they are about to break up...[the record] has such a haunting feel that it would make the hardest thug shed tears"-Prince 2005
this appears in the Feb. 27th edition of the L.A. Times. The article is credited to Robert Hilburn. "Just like the last name says "he'll burn" Npg gettin' it on.-Come On j7 http://www.thebumpsquad.com Silence Speaks A Thousand Words. | |

You're all wrong its actually called 'Fuck You, You Miserable Cunt' and its taken from Joni Mitchell's 'Gets Plugged' EP, circa-'74.
If I remember rightly its a bucolic number with an aching viola solo during the middle eight, its certainly up there with anything from Hejira or Blue. I think you lot are getting mistaken with Joni's other piece from late '76 called 'A Case of You' - its simlar to the one you're all on about but often mistaken for 'Fuck You, You Miserable Cunt'. Anyways, hope that clears that up. "Art calls for complete mastery of techniques, developed by reflection within the soul."

The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. I was so concerned about this that I went to the wrecka stow and looked it up. I can catagorically state that it is called "A Case of You". Sorry that so many of you had it wrong, but this should clear that up. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. There's actually two versions:
"a lower case of you" and "AN UPPER CASE OF YOU" That should account for the confusion. "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

I relooked at my notes and discovered that it is actually called "A Case of Hugh". Apparently, it was about Hugh Downs, the former co-host of ABC-TV's 20/20. Boy do we have egg on our face or what! One Tin Soldier is that the song we're talking about? Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
