This track is far from list of favorite Prince tunes, but the solo at the end of "I Hate U" is pretty raw.

That is an AWESOME solo! I remember it making me proud to be a Prince fan at the time, and pointing out that video to my friends -- "Did you see that?!?!?" eek

Although not a guitar solo, I think his bes guitar playing is in "ICNTTPOYM"

there's a big ol' instrumental break with guitar solo in the middle of the song, unless i'm just iggnurrrrnt and it's called something else.

I don't belive it's a true solo in that it isn't the only instrument being played (drums in the background) but it's still my favorite guitar lick of all

?

A guitar solo doesn't necessarily mean that the only instrument being played is lead guitar. If that were true, there would be only a handful of Prince guitar solos on record.

yeah, but in music, it means when one particular instrument comes to the fore and is given time to improvise or 'do its thing'...it doesn't have to be JUST that instrument audible in the song for it to be a solo.

Nah, I was just being sarcastic. I wouldn't even rank it as his worst #1 hit.

"Joy in Repetition" live from the One Nite Alone aftershow CD. Breathtaking!

Actually, this version has 2 solos and I'd slightly prefer the 2nd one (even more dirty and wild!) biggrin

I love that one, but it always reminds me of Peter Frampton's solo at the end of "Do You Feel Like We do" from Frampton Comes Alive. Very similar. The build up, and then they just let loose with the big finish. Every time I hear it, I think, "Hey, it's Let's Go Crazy!" or vice-versa.

I love them both though. nod

Although there are some incredible solos in the whole "Undertaker" project
[official release on video and laserdisk], and the beautiful guitarwork in
the song "The Undertaker" itself floors me everytime, I still prefer that
amazing unearthly, brachiosaural solo in "The War".

that's simply one of those omfg moments.
