SOTT is a great tune and I'm glad it came down to those two songs but If I Was Your Girlfriend should win!!
To me it embodies everything that's great about the little man. It's experimental, it features varispeeded vocals (lead vocals speeded up, background vocals slowed down). It's wonderfully gender bending!! Only Prince could have created it noone else would have got away with it! 'SOTT' has shocked me and, I think, many others by remaining in the competition for so long. The song is great but is it anywhere near as good as Dorothy, or Strange Relationship, or Adore?
Anyway the answer is obvious - my winner is IF I WAS YOUR GIRLFRIEND "How embarrasing to be human!"

Well, well, well...look what we have come to  ...tsk, tsk,  no Adore, no ICNTTPOYM in the Survivor round...I have emotions that I cannot express right now  ...
So, I will move on to the obvious ...I really like both...but my vote is for SOTT as champion ...more for sentimental reasons, because of the social commentary and how it fit with my life at the time. | |
