I have about 400 CDs. The Choice is hard.

From the 'collector point of view', it has to be Tokyo '86 - original Japanese pressing.
From the 'fan point of view' ?.. i'd say stars'n'bar - monaco
But the choice is really hard.

Man...hard question!!!

I can never go past Small Club...the sound, the funk of P and the band...everytime i listen to it i get chills.

The Purple Rain Tour Finale in Miami rocks also...Prince playing the last notes of Purple Rain for the last time on the tour ;

"People...i can't tell u how much fun i've had over the last year...it's been the happiest Easter of my life. I don't know when i'll return...but just know that i love u...and that God loves us all...thank u"

I love it!

right..
I have on tape "the jewel box" which i still would like on cd. It's a 4cd box with prince rarities .It's a great box with early prince material with songs like 'manic Monday' and "vibrator'(very funny song with i think Vanity) ,it's kinda like 'the b-sides'.If you see it buy it.
Maybe very well known but worth mentioning ,'the small club'(recordings of an afterconcert in The Hague-Holland) and "the lovesexytour ,Dortmund-Germany. Both because of the supreme quality of recording and music ofcourse.
Personally i have nice memories of a concert ,i think it was somewhere late December in Utrecht-Holland in '98(?),i got that on cd from a much bigger prince fan as i. It's less quality but as i mentioned ,i was there and have great memories of that concert and the maybe 24hours around it.
I got my few bootlegs from a guy which i knew from a friend from a friend. I know at cd/recordssales (not stores) they sell them.Ask further if you don't find them ,they won't put everything on the counter.
Nowadays i only complete my collection with new material but maybe in the future i am gonna get me some more.

I too have amassed a large collection of bootleg shows. But Im going to break from the pack with my choice. Most people will say that the 'Small CLub' show is the best. I agree that the 'Small Club' sounds great and is an intresting show but I have to choose 'Wonderboy' as my personal fav. I love the SOTT shows and this show is such fun!!! Furthermore having a copy of the SOTT movie on CD (which comes with the 'Wonderboy' set) is great. I always have that CD in my BMW!!!
My DC Direct wishlist: 1) Bane, 2) Prof Zoom, 3) Superman Blue, 4) Kilowag, 5) Parasite

Small Club is just a classic no two ways about it! I also love Madrid/Spanish Harem and Sweet Thing with Chaka Kahn and George Benson. Love..Thy Will Be Done blows me away on that one! What I wouldn't give to see him perform that LIVE!

I'll have to go with 'wonderboy'. i also love 'small club' along with the city lights set. smile

And while i'm here can i sound off about a trader who annoyed me.mad
He emailed me asking to trade and told me what titles he wanted from me; a total of 6 discs altogether and he sent me his list. Before i had a chance to reply, he sends me an email saying he is selling the 6 disc set of the ONA New York shows for $72 (which is laughable for cdrs).
Now since the NY shows are 6 discs and he wants 6 discs from me, I suggested a trade. And he said no!! He said he is only interested in selling the NY show not trading. I thought this was really lame, anyone else agree?

"Thieves in the Temple" which is a remastered update of the "Thunder" set. It is a Diamnds and Pearls show from London with REAL GOOD soundboard quality.

Also "City Lights" is a MUST own. 11 soundboard cd's from the early (and better) days.

1. Small Club - all die-hards simply must hear "Just my Imagination" whether from the Small Club cd or from a different cd. Aside from the astounding guitar playing, the thing that made the peformance of the song so special is that prior to "Just my Imagination", Prince NEVER did covers. Then out of the blue, he performs "Just my Imagination" with so much emotion that it just blows you away. To hear it now is still awesome, but when you put the performance into the perespective of what you would expect or not expect from Prince at the time, hearing that song back then just made me shake my head in disbelief.

2. Deposition

3. Jewell Box II

Abucah: Prince never did covers? Well then what would you call "A Case of You" as performed August 3, 1983; which is of course Prince's most important (basic tracks laid down for his biggest album) and most booted show.

My fav is Neon Rendezvous. It has a rock version of Erotic City and a guitar heavy version of Something In The Water with a 5 minute or so geetar solo...ouch.

Go to www.Prince-Files.com, click on to the live section to listen to the entire Small Club show. I've been a Prince fan for 14 years and it's the first time I've got round to listening to it. Stars and Bars is powerful too.
