There's definately a difference in taste in America, Europe, and everywhere else. I definately prefer his earlier work before he started trying to please the whole world. He became too damn versitile and it definately weakened his music.

Not tryin' to rehash old arguments---I know you think Prince went crazy after 1984. However, I don't think he was/is trying to please the whole world-just himself.

'sides, i'd rather him be versatile in his style than not at all.

I'm cool with versitility with funk and rock but using an orchestra is going too far for my taste.

Wrong. That's a lot of people's problem. He has a right to do as he pleases and we, as consumers, also have a right to not like every last little single thing he does.

Not if that's what you like. I just don't like either my funk or my rock to have hints of classical in it. It weakens it.

That's what I'm saying baby. You don't like orchestra in your funk or rock. That's fine. Other people, definitely Prince, have broader tastes than you. It's not a shortcoming on my part for liking it, nor on Prince for making it. You are the one who has a problem with it....

And as I have said before, I am not the only one that it irritated. Maybe around here I am, but there are lots of ex-fans that would agree with me. I just happen to be one that has a little broader taste that could adjust to the change and eventually come to enjoy a lot of it. I still have my preferences and always will and, to my ears, funk and rock without orchestras is much stronger.
