What has been your favorite Prince era??

What has been your favorite era? When do you think he was hottest? sexiest? most creative? Even though I know many of you disagree, as of today, I think the Batman days were my favorite. My opinion about that will probably change tomorrow, however...

What do you think?

1) Lovesexy - Prince was his peak man, he looked great sounded great, and that performance, was amazing.

2) 2004 - Musicology era was a huge time from prince. He came bak in 2 the ligth and still showed he kicked ass.

3) gold - Ok the i was kinda giging the music, but hes look and style was amazing, and i fink hes best era of guitar playing!

Now for this reason:

It includes every era previous. Meaning, if I want the Dirty Mind era I can just throw in the CD or DVD and I have him in the Dirty Mind Era. If I'm feeling 1984/85 I throw in Prince and The Revolution:Live.

Is that answer cheating???

1999-Purple Rain

He just looked do goddamn cool in this era, especially in that outfit at the end of When Doves Cry-coolest Prince outfit ever.

Actually to tell you the truth I like a little bit of all his eras. All his eras have produced something I liked and he has always looked sexy in all of them because he is same person if you think about it. But my least favorite era would be the Come era because he just seemed really lost but some of the songs that came out of it were good.

My favorite era would be:Grafitti Bridge era. He seemed still inspired by spirtuality but he was still young in a way and liked to party and have a good time. He started the Glam Slam nightclub and was pretty well known around Minneapolis. I just wished I was in my twenties during that time insted of nine because I think he would be a blast to hang out with during that time. Plus I was digging the beard and the long hair. He was sooo sexy. love

One of his worst would probably be the Lovesexy era. Some of the outfits from that time are just hilariously awful.

The Diamonds & Pearls era for me, without a doubt - this is when I rediscovered the magic of Prince after losing interest shortly after Sign o the Times.

This period can't have lasted more than a year/year and a half I suppose because I remember thinking it was all change again around the time of the album prince...but it seems a much longer and colourful length of time than that.

For me it has been when Prince was at his most Prince-like, an arse with interviews etc but an excellent live performer and some great tunes that stand the test of time and bring back first-listen memories still. He looked great with the beard and suits, he had the hottest women around him etc and the Diamonds & Pearls pic with his eyes and fingers through the strings of jewels is Iconic to me (see the single cover or back of the Tour programme for the pic im talking about) - that period alone re-kick started me for these last 14/15 years

Since then he's hit on all the ingredients of that period but not all at the same time..he came close with Gold Experience but since then he's either been a great performer OR put together some great trax

nod That was a very fun period. I became a huge fan during that time so I guess I will always have a soft spot for it but I still think the Graffti Bridge era had better music, preformances but he was still parting/having fun like the D&P era-just behind the sceans. Mmmmmm...party Prince! party

The early 0(+> days, because that's when I really became a fan and following his escapades was guite fascinating for a fucked-up teen like me at the time. So basically 94-96. Say, after the release of "Come" to the release of "Chaos & Disorder".

Sign O The Times era definitely...it was great to see him get radio and video play and I loved the fact that the critics were grooving on the album. It was Prince being a star on his own terms...that was one of the eras where the public came to him to make the hit and not vice versa. Love the style too...I so desperately wanted a pair of those cool square glasses but could never find them.

Diamonds and Pearls through the beginning of Symbol was also a nice period. Sure Prince was pandering to the masses but starting from the buzz created by Gett Off, the whole period is special to me. The typhoon do, the great looking videos...hell I could even tolerate the Game Boyz at first before I cam to my senses and realized that they were crap. Once "My Name is Prince" was released, I felt like the era was winding down but 7 was huge so there was still some left to enjoy.

Last year was pretty cool too.
All good things they say never last...

My favorite time for Prince's music is 1986-1987. My two favorite Prince albums come from this time period, my favorite 12" and my favorite B-sides are all from Parade/Sign 'o' the Times. He had such an interesting vibe back then, and I don't think anyone has ever recaptured that feeling.

I still must say the 1999/Purple Rain era is my favorite. There was just nothing like the stuff he was putting out at that time. That SOTT/Lovesexy era, however, is a close second and gaining.
