It is a complex movie that you have to watch more than once to get a full understanding. To me that makes for a great movie because it makes you watch it over and over. My favorite line in the movie is when The Kid says to Aura:
"It's hard to see green, when there is so much blue". You can't get better dialogue than than.

Or such unforgettable dialogue as:

"That girl is too fine"
"No she is three fine..."

or

"It's just around the corner"

or

"Damn, I didn't even get a chance to rap."

or goofy stuff like a game of hangman first thing in the morning, or "battling" your musical enemy by dancin in the street like a damn raggedy ann doll...

Yes, it's colorful, but is it art?

Well at least i have someone who agrees with me(even if it is a teenager). And YES IT IS ART. Art is usually very misunderstood by the massess and even the fans of that artist. Think about some of the albums P put out that you hated but as time went by you fell in love with it

I went to see GB the first day it was released. I sat in the theater dumbfounded by what I was seeing. I vowed that day to never watch it again and I never have.

I saw it at the movies too. I remember dragging by best friend, who was not a Prince fan, to the movies to see it. She wanted to kill me afterward. lol

I guess it takes a MATURE, OPEN-MINDED person to appreciate art

Well, if you took a dump and smeared it on a wall, you could probably call it art too, but that doesn't mean anyone would enjoy looking at it.

I'll have to admit, for such an unsuccefful movie, artistically and commercially, it spawns somef of the org's best threads.

I'd choose GB ANYDAY over that corny, black-and-white, overacted, cheesy movie UTCM

eek

UTCM isn't a good movie either.
But it doesn't take itself too seriously.

GB is commedic in the sense that Prince was actually trying to say something . What that "something" was I'll never know.

Twice.

Once when I was 17 with some friends---They never forgave me and until this day, we dont' really speak.

Once last summer just to see if the movie really WAS that bad. My ears actually got hot from embarrassment at the entire thing.

There were just so many parts that he should have edited out. Like that idiotic rap by Robin Power? How can you take the movie seriously after that? And why did his keyboard player start playing for Morris when Morris was singing his ABC's? Just dumb. disbelief

The movie has everything: comedy, drama, good music, colorful, improved acting; what more could you ask for?
