What's up with that hidden track?

I know a lot of Orgers hate or strongly dislike "NewPowerSoul", but I have a question. Why is the hidden track sooo....ummm, well, hidden? "I like Funky Music" (Track 10) ends and after letting the album play for almost 5 minutes of nothing but silence....boom, "Wasted Kisses" just starts playing. Did someone mess up the album or was this intentional, because I like the song, but hate that long ass pause? How do I fix it to play immediately after Track 10?

it's on purpose. lots of artists do it. beck does it on most of his albums, and nirvana used to do it. the only way to fix it is by making a CDR of the album eliminating the blank tracks, unless someone else has a brighter idea.

I LOVE when he does stuff like that. I remember when I first played Rave, and then at the very end, all of a sudden this last track starts and I hear this fucking HILARIOUS P voice sayin' "Don't hate me cause I'm beautiful".

I love when he does the hidden track thing; such a nice extra.

Have you all forgotten CD players are programmable? cool

Unless the silence part it's included in the same song, which is not the case here. smile

I'll repeat it for girls:

Program tracks 1-10 and then track 31 (or whatever the number is) mr.green

start at track 1 then hit skip backwards twice (once to start track 1 over and once to get to the track preceding track 1). Kinda primitive but it works for me.

you'd be surprised how many threads get started about "OMG! i just found a surprise track on NPS!" lol

hey, it happens. we all don't have time to go looking for hidden tracks on albums - that's why certain artists do it. i remember the first time i heard the hidden track on nirvana's "in utero", it scared the crap out of me because i thought the album was over and i was relaxing with a book and enjoying the silence. then....KARRRANNNG!!!! eek

eek I had to put it on the DVD player and forgot it was playing until the song just comes on and scared the livin' mess outta me. When I put the album in my CD player it stops after track 10. Yep, that'll teach me not to buy those cheap CD players from the Dolla Stow.

Any theories on the several blank tracks that precede "Last December (Reprise)" on TRC? I been thinking that those blank tracks represent the segues eliminated by tracking the album together -- i.e. "The Work, Pt.1" ends at approximately 3:47 but then you have the narration that is part of the track that segues into "Everywhere" (the following track).

Wasn't there mention somewhere that Prince made sure that Emancipation discs timed exactly sixty minutes each?

nod i will never forget the first time i discovered deelites hidden track..now with them, it takes five minutes of dead silence after the last track on the song...its a wierd drum and bass bit and then after that ends you have to wait another five minutes for the fiercest track on the entire album to start..

now, *thats* a true hidden track.....cause your ass gotta be busy doing other shit (like i was) to be bothered to put on another cd (which most due)...when the first hidden track came on it made me jump up in fear... lol

I always play wasted kisses first as it makes the begining of NPS make more sense. Wasted kisses is the "darkness" to the rest of the albums "light." Try it out, I think it works better first than last.
And how much should we charge 4 that?
If u would prefer it we could just not do this at all.

Leave it to Prince to put the best song on the album as a hidden track! Wasted Kisses and Prettyman are both, in my opinion, better than anything on the albums, especially Pretty man!

I do. Just stick The One, Come On and Wasted Kisses on your MP3 player, as there are many other tracks to skip besides the silent ones.
