What do you really feel about PRINCE starring in another film? What would be the storyline? Type of music? Character? etc....
I'm sure most would expect another "Purple Rain" (Let it go already.) Anyway...I for one would love to see another Prince film, not necessarily with performances or a concert film, but something with a good script,director and cast...of course to be accompanied by a slammin' soundtrack?
Oooooh..how about a rock star/james bond type of guy fighting against an evil record executive trying to take over the world? So post your thoughts.

I recently was on a flight from Minneapolis to NYC sitting next to Spike. I was going to ask him if he'd ever place Prince as a cameo or supporting role in one of his movies. However, we started talking about other things such as steroids in baseball, the NY Knicks, and the differences between Hollywood and NYC.

I did him that music was stale these days. I told him if it "aint Chuck D or Jam Master J" they losing....he laughed.

I could see Prince in another film, if he left his sermonising out of it, which would be unlikely.

It would only work if Prince basically played himself, or a version of himself. Say, a retired reclusive pop legend is coaxed out of his mansion to use his experience and skill to take on the world of plastic pop and show the world what they are missing, set slightly in the future.

There's a film that Bob Dylan's in, Hearts of Fire, something similar to that, only done better. Bob plays a retired, disenchanted pop star who meets an aspiring young female singer and decides to help her career and avoid the pitfalls of fame, but she ends up under the wing of a modern evil popstar played by Rupert Everett who is only using her to rejuvenate his own career.

Everybody seems to think it's a terrible movie but I always kinda liked it! It was directed by Richard Marquand who also directed Return of the Jedi but he died just after making it. But the basic idea is kind of cool, a film about the pitfalls of the music industry, and would allow plenty of musical interludes.

Kind of like Purple Rain where instead of refusing to help Apollonia he actually does help her career!

Come on people, Prince´s acting skills aren´t that bad. I really dig his acting in Under The Cherry Moon, one of the most underrated films in history.
He should do some cameo appearances , something cool, you know, like in some Quentin Tarantino movie....although that is getting a bit played out.
But I think Tarantino or someone else who´ s weird enough could really bring out the best in Prince´s acting.
Now that he´s a bit more mellow the outcome could be great.
It could be something totally remote from a music plot.

A film he probably has in mind will probably be about Jehovah. But the only film I could take would be a documental about his life and career, realistic.

I'm sure P gets asked all the time to do something in film or TV but I'm glad P hasn't agreed cause his acting SUCKS.

the public interest in this movie would be zero, zilch, nada. not to mention it would be pg-13, so all the old fans can bring their kids. the kids would be bored out of theri minds and the adults would be waiting for him to sing something they knew--UNLESS..he just decided to act the whole movie again, which would only shit on any momentum he has gained ove the last few months

I can see him in a small role in a large film, where he is not the focus. Other than that, the only way I want to see him in the cinema again is in a concert film.

Interestingly, there is an article in Total Film Magazine on the top 40 singers to make it into films and Prince doesn't get a mention. It goes from cliff Richard to Whitney to Sting to Dylan to Bowie to Beyonce and Eminem gets a top ten ranking with Will and Frank as two and one respectively. You'd think with three films he might get a nod but no, so it doesn't look as if Hollywood is dying for him to make it four.

I don't want to see him in another movie but, a weekly reality series on VH1 would be cool. They could even bring in all of the protoges and have them compete for the title of Best Prince Protoge.
