I still listen to PARADE (when I bother to listen to Prince anymore) more often than SOTT, Emancipation, and GOLD put together.
It's a refreshing mix of ridiculous sounds and styles that somehow work.

I don't like the opening track, but several of my favorite P songs are on Parade. New Position, Mountains, Life Can be so Nice, AnotherLover...

Oh I love "Mountains" and I just got the DVD for UTCM and saw the video (Wendy looks absolutely gorgeous and I FINALLY got to see what the hell Susannah looked like!). But there is some cool, innovative stuff on the album. I'm gonna make you love me...

Will always love those songs - reminds of the first time I saw him live at Wembley Arena. Tend to play the 12inches rather than the album though. The Mountains 12inch especially! In the distance a light shines and I know it is mine. Someday I will touch it because it calls me. It says cross the line, cross the line. I know everything is not always what it seems, so I pinch myself daily just in case it's a dream

It's tied as my favorite album of his, along with Purple Rain. It was my first Prince album and I will always cherish it for all of the memories that it gave me. I'll never forget when I was 8 (April 1987) and I was home from school cause I was sick and all of a sudden, it started to snow. I put "Sometimes It Snow In April" on and just laughed and it all. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It's a great Prince album. Full of breezy joy, eclectic melodies, daring experiments, effortless elegance, and beautiful songs throughout. Love it. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

The album is probably one of the best reasons why the word "genius" is always used to describe him.
The irony is he didn't see it (at least when he made the comment about not being proud of Parade).

it's been well documented that w + l had a massive input into PARADE , a lot of folks on here think that was the reason p said what he said. it truly was a PRINCE AND THE REVOLUTION ALBUM , not a p album if you get what i mean.
anyway PARADE=brilliant i looooovvvvveeee it !!!

anyway PARADE=brilliant i looooovvvvveeee it !!! for me parade is pure genius, doesn't sound like anything else before nor enything else after ... Or prince didn't know it himself back then why it was that good, on the other hand, wasn't that the real reason why he dismantled the revolution. They simply could'nt get any better than that.

It's a so-so album. The only songs I like on it are, Girls and Boys, Mountains, Anothaloverholeinhead and Kiss. Sometimes It Snows In April is overrated IMO.

What a coincidence! I just recently re-purchased "Parade" and I have been obsessed with it. I had forgotten how great this lp is. My favorite cuts..."Anotherholeinyourhead", "Kiss" (of course), "I Wonder U", "New Position".
Glad to see that I am not the only one who thinks this is one of P's best efforts. tell me how you wanna be done...

This and Abbey Road are my spring soundtracks. They immediately make me think of Spring and THUS makes me feel GOOD!

I think the only song that cold have been left off the album is the first one, IMO. But as a whole, the sound, the songs, the videos, the tour, it's a milestone in his work.
