This was probably a sign of solidarity. "THEY" probably referred to those who Prince and The Artist Formerely Known As TTD have turned their backs on: the mercenary record companies, the nay-sayers, the non-believers, the people who fly to the top of the mountain rather than climbing up,the people who don't have time to reflect on life etc, etc...
Hey! Did Prince SWEAR?!! Ha! So it's true what they say about leopards...

I think it was a bit of a joke. When the SOTT tour hit Europe, TTD was number one all over. He was being hailed as the next Prince.

Remember Prince chopping Morris' Oak Tree down in 86 in A Love Bizarre? He still respected the guy long term. He just gets a bit bitter at other peoples success.

Another example is St Paul.He hated St Paul for leaving, but now respects him.

TTDs first album was a classic!

Maybe so, but the third and fourth albums (Symphony or Damn and Vibrator) were MUCH better and deserve "classic" status much more than the first one! At the times of these albums, he was putting out MUCH better music than Prince, believe it or not!

TTDs Symphony or Damn is THE album. His SOTT. I Think album 3 and 1 are best. 2 was crap, 4 and 5 are ok.

I reckon TTD's debut is his weakest and even that's a cool album. Neither Fish Nor Flesh is great. I don't know why everyone disses it. It's a fun listen with some fantastic vocal work and rather eccentric arrangements.

Smoke some first!
