What got me BACK into Prince was by ex-bestfriend just kept singing "I like em fat, and I like em proud" over and over....he pointed out that it was Prince and I picked up where I left off a couple of years before

I got turned on 2 Prince watching Purple Rain in 1984. The music rocked and was funky and soulful at the same time it was blues. Very powerful music. I could relate to Prince. Prince is rebel. Apollonia was hot. Morris was funny and sleazy.
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

I used to hear "I Wanna Be Your Lover" during the disco era. Then I saw him later on that year on "American Bandstand". I totally admired his feminine, but strong, "fuck you" attitude. He may have been feminine but he was far from a weak sissie, he was a total "bitch".

On "Dirty Mind", he was even stronger with an even harder "fuck you" attitude. By then, I was hooked.

Ok I have to ask you something, Did you think Prince was gay when you first saw him, honestly? I never thought he was gay because we all knew he wasn't by the time I was old enough to know who he was. but back before anyone ever knew who he was did you think "I like that gay guy's song"

Nope... I knew when I first saw him he was like Screw what they think.. I'm gonna tear some you know what up... not at all... Even though my friends back in the day when I was a kid would make fun of him, it would piss me off cuz I knew this man was original and talented. Most People don't understand man...

My Aunt used to baby sit me when the 1999 Album came out and she used to play it all the time. She loved DMSR and Little Red Corvette, I knew every word off that record before I turned six.

In elementary school I had heard songs like Little Red Corvette,1999 and I Wanna Be Your Lover and liked them. I was exposed to the former two songs by MTV while growing up as usually one of about 3 or 4 minorities in my classes. Most of those kids were more into Cyndi Lauper,Duran Duran,Def Leopard and Van Halen. They all had some cool songs but I needed somebody to break the barriers and help me fit in.

By the time Purple Rain came out,Prince was living out my vision. He had EVERYBODY'S attention. Blacks,Whites,Asians,Latinos-he apealed to everybody and that's what I've always strived for as well. Michael Jackson definately helped unite the masses but Prince did it better.Big difference was that Michael never got Brook Shields to flash her boobs and jump in a frozen lake. That's where Prince had the edge.

There was no style of music that he couldn't master.Best of all,he always acknowledged and thanks his Creator in all his work. Not only were his songs great but the songs he gave to others the Time,Ckaka Khan,Sheena Easton and Stevie Nicks. To top it off back then MTV played live performances of I Would Die 4 U,Baby,I'm A Star and Take Me With U.The energy and showmanship in those clips were mind-boggling.

News clips and magazines were always talking about this musical genius and making him out to be this mysterious, pied piper that always seemed to find the finest women on earth. Some kids fell off the purple wagon in subsequent years but my loyalty continued. On my 14th birthday I recieved the new Prince album Sign O the Times and new from that point on that Prince will forever be my favorite musician.

And because of his humbleness 2 the Creator, makes his music eternal.I dont think Prince himself knows that music he made 20 yrs ago was 20 yrs. b4 it's time and people r just getting it, not me, i traveled with his music,
Prince's music is like Song's of Solomon, King David's son, which was a musician2. it's dawning on him now, that's how he gave it 2 us again n 2004,coz it just dawned him,i can hear any song of his over and over and never get tired, like reading the BiBle, 2 of my mind's most stimulating things 4 satisfaction gaureenteed.
