One Kiss At A Time appreciation thread. This song is one of the absolute BEST Prince love/sex/slow songs. Definitely the highlight of Emancipation. I have been listenin' to this beast for 2 hours...YUM!

Great song. I love all the ballads on this album. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.
"You still wanna take me to prison...just because I won't trade humanity for patriotism."

Hmmmm very smooth Is that on disk 2 of Em? That whole disk is very very cruisy. Call her green and the winter cannot fade her

It's a beautiful nice slow jam. I like disc 2...it's the get you in the mood kind of music. All those songs were written at that time for his 1st wife Mayte. It was as you put it an open love letter to her.

That's an incredible song. Easily, one of the best on Emancipation. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Very good song on, easily, the best disc of 'Emancipation'. Ballads are the one area he's been very consistent on throughout his career.

I'm going to have to spoil all this positivity on this thread and point out that it was exactly songs such as "One Kiss At A Time" that made people say Prince "had lost it". It was one of the very first R.Kelly/Boyz 2 Men -type of ballads that didn't seem to fit Prince all that well. Of course, after the release of the "Emancipation" -album we've gotten a whole lot more tracks in this vein, so we've already become accustomed to them.
On the other hand, in retrospect I can see how it reminds of some of his earliest sexy ballads like "Baby, You're A Trip". But yeah, I used to personally dislike it strongly when it came out.

Couldnt agree more. Teppid, dull, lifeless and so damn boring... I find no redeeming features in this song or in any other of these kind of fluffy numbers P started doing...

I think it's great!
I like the clever chord progression, it's a nicely balanced arrangement, and the sound is great. But that's just my opinion...
