Well, I don't know what you mean by "old", but I have been a loyal devotee and fan of Prince since 1978, when I first heard "Soft and Wet". I have all of his albums and owe a lot of what I do creatively to him. He is a genius.

Yea, I remember the PPML and Prodigy days. Those were some fun times.

Yes I was the one who operated the Prince 900 line called 1-900-PRN-1999 and it was successful.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and memories.

I've been a huge fan since the early 80's. Not the kind that buys every extended single (back when they were really worth getting, I did not have the $$$), but unwavering in my belief he is music made man, a true genius whose career was well worth following. Even through periods of deep cynicism, he reminded me that there were still people who marched to their own beat and could be brilliant on several levels. He had his ups and downs, but he retained his individuality and creativity even when he seemed to be on the wrong path. It took courage (and stubbornness) to defy the industry. Many fans ran out of patience before the whole independent stance paid off in a major way with Musicology. He's been a musical, sexual, spiritual and business rebel with a massive output in a great number of styles, not to mention his musicianship, which on his own would make him worthy of attention.

Therefore, I remain an unapologetic fanatic.

My brother had the 45 single of "Just as Long as We're Together" I liked the song, but I had no idea who Prince was. I Wanna Be Your Lover was one of my favorite songs before I'd even seen a picture of the guy. Then all of a sudden Dick Clark said Prince would be on his show...saw the show...."been his ever since."

Actually "I Wanna Be Your Lover" kept me a fan. Whenever Prince did something wacky or put out music I don't like, I put that song on and it reels me back in. The Off The Wall Album does that for me too. Michael can go to jail, but I'll always put on Rock With You and Don't Stop Til you Get Enough.
