Used to have that one! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I would have loved to see the 1999 tour live. Seeing it on video dosen't do it justice. Great flashback. "The little 1 will escort u 2 the places within ur mind"

[b][i] I remember those days that was the beginning
of my interest in the Mnpls Sound.....Controversy was the first I heard of Prince, but 1999 was the visual aspect especially the way the band seemed 2 vibe Andre,(later Brown Mark),Dez,Lisa,JJ,Dr, Fink, and Prince.....I decided that was what I wanted to do when I got older. LOL! We used 2 act out the video on our front porch on Oakwood ave. jmzhndx

I wish u could have. This in my opionion, was P at his best. I saw P twice on that tour. Once in L.A., Mar 28, 1983, the day after my birthday. And again, a little later in 83, at Long Beach. I still have this Rolling Stone issue. At this time, in some ways, P was hotter than he was during Purple Rain. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

NUMBERTWOFANATIC thanks 4 the read. It was real interesting. It’s amazing what was said about him then still apply 2day. He was shy then and he still is shy. I see where all stories come from. The early review where they describe his father as black and Italian and his mother a mixture of a bunch of things, the cockiness, often contradicting himself, mysterious, etc. I just love this man. i really really dooooo.....

1999 Concert was a very good show, it was when Prince's stage show was more polished and you could see his growth. I thought the best show and more raw shows were the Dirty Mind/Controversy Tours. Prince didn't really have dance moves and kinda gyrated around stage. The Time was introduced and Vanity 6 as well. The concerts in San Francisco @ the Civic Auditorium were off the hook particularly the after shows. I thought he was a little strange wearing only bikini briefs and leg warmers but I music was slammin, so we overlooked the strangness and were fams ever since.

Hope that one of the reasons u really love this man isn't based on the fiction that his father was black and Italian and his mother was a bunch of things, because none of that was true. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I saw this tour twice - only the 2nd and 3rd Prince concert I saw. Never knew that I would still be going to them 20 years later

I bought it at a newsstand on Kings Highway in Brooklyn. I also went to the 1999 tour at Radio City Music Hall. The line wasn't very long at all! We sat about 11 or 13 rows from the stage. I stood on my chair, in heels (and fishnets!) for the entire concert. I still have my t-shirt (and it still fits!). I purchased 3 instead of 2, so I had an extra. Wish I still had it. Wonder what it would fetch on ebay? [Edited 2/9/05 13:14pm]

I also still have my Controversy Rude Boy shirt from Santa Monica in 82. [Edited 2/9/05 13:14pm] SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I wore the t-shirt when I saw "The Artist" at Madison Square Garden in 1998. Someone passed a note to me (which I still have) inviting me to an after party. Something about how I must be a real fan, since I was wearing that old school tee. Man, I wish I'd bought the V6 tee in '83, as well.

I don't know if there is anyway to verify this, but I swear to God I saw Prince on a local talk show in Cincinnati way back when he was in his band "Champagne".
The show was hosted by a guy by the name of Bob Braun, who was like the Regis of Cincinnati, and the show was called the "50-50 Club". I remember it cause I was maybe like 10 years old and this band played a song and as I watched I was thinking to myself, "Man these guys dress weird." Would love to find out if I'm right or not.....

The secret life of America's sexiest one-man band (from RS 394, April 28, 1983) http://www.rollingstone.c...region=nav (scroll to the bottom) Thinking about Batman I found this Gemini stuff interresting: " Andre, on the other hand, claims the first band had Prince playing lead guitar, Andre himself on bass guitar, his sister Linda on keyboards and the Time's Morris Day on drums. The group was called Grand Central, later renamed Champagne. The musicians all wore suede-cloth suits with their zodiac signs sewn on the back (Prince, born on June 7th, 1960, had Gemini, the twins, on his). "

Is it just me, or does anyone else that went to the show feel old. I believe the 1999 tour was my second Prince show.. I was 12 or 13yrs old. Seemed perfectly normal back then. "..Just close your eyes and count to 10...and when U open 'em I'll B standing naked with nuthin' but a SMILE on.."
