Prince and Starbucks

Don't know if this has been posted yet or not, but... I was just in Starbucks and heard 'Musicology" - I hadn't heard it in a long time so it brought a smile to me - but - what does it mean to be on the Starbuck's mix? Is this something Prince aspires to? lol lol

i've noticed that prince is a real conversation starter, whether one is a fan or not. i'd imagine playing prince in a store starts a lot of conversations. "what was that whole squiggle thing about?", etc. lol

i have been wondering if we're gonna see an "artist's choice" prince CD at starbucks in the future...he picked a song for the joni disc, and i've noticed jill scott's CD is being sold at starbucks...hmmm

Holy shit...I heard it today in Whole Foods in San Mateo while eating a sandwich for lunch!!!!!

Actually, I wasn't all that excited, but it was a departure from the norm, given the homogenous nature of the shoppers.

Funny that u've mentioned that. Back in Wichita Falls, TX, Starbucks played "What Do You Want Me To Do" a couple of months ago. I just recently moved to Killeen, TX, and yesterday, the Starbucks here played both "Call My Name",and "Reflection" back to back! So, I thought that was intersting.

Prince has been back in the public eye in a big way for over a year and his continuous success means he is permeating the mainstream deeper. For instance, I've noticed that TV ads for a local radio station finally show his face (they have been having those montages of famous recording artists for years and I've never seen him like, before Rod Stewart, right after Tina). These ads must be running 50 times a day, so you constantly see a couple of seconds of Musicology. Also, his face was in MuchMore Music's ad for Black History Month, so I've been seeing Prince on TV some days every half hour if not more while in front of the tube.

I work at Starbucks, and I havent heard it! mad
All we play is that flippin Reggae Grooves Tape over and over and over again

When I went to "coffee class" they told us to
"Write down who you would want to have coffe with"
so every body wrote Ghandi, Jesus, Martin Luther King, etc...and I wrote Prince.

When every body finished laughing the lady running things was like
"You'll love the music then cause we play Prince all the time!"

I have yet to hear him mad
If you will, so will I
