My vote is for Forever in My Life... I can't believe Hot Thang's gone already. I can believe it, but it's a shame that "It" is so underappreciated around here. ITA

Yes I do. Adore pales in comparison to The Cross; the former is the type of composition, which while beautiful, is standard ballad-driven Prince - by comparison, The Cross is a mere demo cut, which in its simplicity, stripped-down nakedness comes across twice as powerful and effective. Not only that though, its also one of Prince's most rockin tunes with the fuzz crackles of distortion and sitar-like guitars combining on a track rarely - if ever used since - contrastingly Adore (stylistically) is a copy - which has been copied prior to Sign O' The Times and subsequently since. "Art calls for complete mastery of techniques, developed by reflection within the soul."

I can't believe "Play in the Sunshine" is gone. No way would I vote out "Starfish and Coffee". These are both such playful, happy songs. It's "Adore" for me.

Really. Come on. Prince performed these two songs on The Muppet Show. I want "Starfish and Coffee" to the end!

Not quite. As his ballads go, Prince has done nothing lyrically like 'Adore' before or since. Don't get me wrong, I love 'The Cross'. But there's nothing "standard" about 'Adore'. The background vocals alone are some of the most exquisite he's ever done, right up to the ending climax. The horns, organ and synth-bell patches blend perfectly creating a heavenly gospel flow. 'It's both libidinous and parodic as it maintains the self-consciousness and dual thought of giving and receiving that love and loving is'. Ballad-wise, for me this was his peak.

I've played this live before on piano as an instrumental, and I just kept repeating certain parts over and over, and then going back and picking out certain phrases, then repeating them and mixing them. It's a gorgeous composition that could go on forever!
