I have become addicted to this song y'all. I can't stop listening to it!! I just happened to pick up my CD of "ATWIAD" after not listening to it for a long time, and I have gone nuts over "Temptation." The ending of this song is brilliant to me. I especially love that high pitched scream Prince does at the end after that "God-like" voice speaks to him. That was incredible. It's amazing how much he does his trademark scream in this song. His range is almost unreal. I wonder if he ever experienced any pain yellin' out like that. Also, the message of the song is real deep and meaningful. "Love is more important than sex. Now I understand."

I love this song, too. it tickles my brain.

however, i go back and forth about the ending. there are times when the ending seems perfect and i abosultely love it but then there are other times when i skip past it because it seems too drawn out and such a drastic change from the rest of the song.

I also love this song, but he had me moping around for awhile after that "I don't know when I'll return....goodbye." part. I thought it meant he was retiring from the biz. Silly me had no idea he was coming back with another movie and soundtrack.

I love when his voice goes really low and spooky sounding, "Temptation, temptation, temptation." Very atmospheric.

i love ATWIAD from start 2 finish

....subsequent 2 his on stage talk with God 12/21/84, this was one of the 1st of his tunes i started 2 take very personally; "....runnin' hot water of the daughter of morality...."oh yeah, took that very personally....still struggling with making my focus spiritual when my physical was saying.....
....kinda made up 4 it with what he did on them drums playing "Tambourine" 2 balance it out...ATWID was the Bginning of what hasn't ended 4 B....

I love the song 2. It's just that some of the stuff n it is just funny! Like the 2nd verse when he sings "temptation" and then do the evil vampire laugh is just hilarious. At the end is absolutely funny. Let me clear my throat: emmm..hmmm

I too recently picked up ATWIAD again and popped it into my stereo. Well, I know I might disappoint some of you, but I'm still not feeling the whole album. BUT... the song Temptation got so stuck in my head that the next day when I was just driving around, I heard the little horn parts in my mind. And, I kept thinking, "Damn, I know that that's a Prince song, but which one?" I couldn't think. So, I went back to my house eventually and ATWIAD was still in the player, so I played a little Temptation, and there it was.

The thing that I love about this song is just like what Water said. The vocal arrangements are so unreal. And the trademark scream throughout the song, God! But, like I said, my favorite parts were when the horns played. The talk with God at the end isn't funny to me, but I kinda just don't get why it's in there. I don't bust out laughing whenever I hear it, but I prefer to stop the song before this part.

Back when the album first came out, "Temptation" was the only song on the album that I liked without it having to grow on me. Great song and great screams.
