I taped this interview in 1996 when Mojo had a show on Sunday nights on 105.9 Jamz. He replayed this interview on his show and I taped it. I still have that tape somewhere.

#2 I understnad u guys ravin over him and stuff and i feel completely left out. #3. Nice interview ***** Yes, he was. For all of the 1980's, Mojo was king of the late night for the the latest and greatest funk. Rick James, M.J. Prince, The Dazz band, Kool and the gang, Maryjane girls, The Time , Vanity 6, Andre Cymone.....many, many bands and songs you will never hear now. He would take in calls and play almost anything you requested. I was just getting into high school and my friends and I would listen to him all night and play cards or b.s. I was trying to get tickets the day that concert was announced but they sold out too fast. He also did a concert 1 or 2 days before that also at a smaller venue since it sold so fast. Morris day was in Detroit that same week doing his Color of Success tour, but I couldn't get tickets to that either. My wife and I just sat back and wondered how the whole show was going. Now we know it was a historical event that was captured on video!!!! That whole interview has been out on cd for along time if you can find it. "
First I need a picture of your mother, to verify the fact that there's not another one in the universe so supreme!!"

I didn't read this and didn't read this and didn't read this.
Now I'm glad I did. It's a wonderful interview and a great read! I gotta admit, I feel a certain "left out" feeling, I have really enjoyed reading about Mojo and all he did in Detroit. At that time, I was living in Grand Forks, ND and graduating from highschool. I was the only one really into Prince at my highschool and didn't know any of this was happening. I'm firmly planted in denial

PRINCE: About three minutes...they're knocking on my door now. I'll tell you what I'm gonna do. I'll call back tomorrow and I'm gonna leave a little message at about 4:30. And, this one's just for all the purple people, and I think they'll understand. I'll call you. I got your number.
I don't know if somebody's said this already, but I'm pretty sure it was Wendy who called back the next day and the message was "EVOLSIDOG".

Oh man, the fun I had at school with folks trying to figure that out!! The Cult jokes were a riot!! I had it written on a notebook, but some nimrod took it too far and I finally had to hold it up to a mirror and shut his mouth up with the truth!!
